I was at the game. I didn't hear any tornado alarms and I believe EVERY tree in the Liberty Bowl is still standing.

Did you get on TeeVEE?

There was a pack of drunk wet shirtless dancing dudes that were having a blast. And there were some bedraggled loners there at the end who looked miserable.

Two of our players aren't though.

I will ask again. Does anyone know for sure the weather was a factor in the injuries? Players get hurt during a sunny game. Do we blame the sun for their injuries.

There's more of a chance to get hurt in a monsoon than a dry game. Players get hurt during the dry games, yes, but the chances are greatly increased in that monsoon we played in.

I honestly have no idea why its hard for some people to understand that. There's car crashes in the dry summer day. But there's a greater chance when it's wet.

I don't think it's common to lose 5 starters on defense in one game so I will say weather played a factor. Some will return against UCF.

You seem so vested in arguing this point-- that it had nothing to do with the season ending injuries and the other injuries still up in the air.

Yet everyone knows that the torrential downpour with bad winds was the main reason we didn't have our 40K attendees and our fun season opener.

Were you one of the decision makers? --asking for a friend.

No doubt. Games are played every year in just as bad or worse conditions. Once the game started, the rain was just a steady rain, not near as bad as it was before the game. It was bad but those are the cards we were dealt. I am sure the administration would have liked it to be better weather but because it was a TV game and other considerations were involved, we played Thur. night. For those that continue to whine about it, you will just have to complain. Many that complained weren't even there. It is time to move on and get ready for the next game and if it rains at the next home game, I guess people will whine and cry all over again.

Here's the tailgating area for the SMU game on weekend...and it was just rain.

You are vested in complaining yet I am sure you were not there nor would you have been under clear skies.

I am just a peon, not a decision maker by any means. Those that decided were in a tough situation for sure. You cancel and the weather gets better, people like you complain. They play the game and the weather is bad, people like you complain.

Playing the game on Thur. was in my best interest. I had to leave on Friday for Darlington SC for the Nascar race. Playing on Friday would have put me in a bind.

That's me holding my friend's beer. lol. I drove through a snowy mtn pass and flew on Thanksgiving to be there. I had a couple season tickets.

I fly in for games as much as possible.

This year, I was planning on going to the opener...and the torrential rain would not have stopped me. But we are surrounded by wildfires and I don't want to leave till the danger has passed.

Sitting in the wind and rain is not that big of a deal. I have snowboarding gear that keeps me dry and wools that wick moisture. It's the hurt players that have me totally bummed out, and the fact that we deserved our fun home opener.

I've seen some folks on this board with absolutely ZERO common sense.
Just thought I'd throw that in.

I was there for the SMU game. I am sure the school will put in a request for there to be perfect weather for all future home games so our fans won't get cold or wet. Would hate for that to happen.

Irma barrelling down on Florida or our coast is very troubling...all in all.

We just don't know which way that thing will go. No chances should be taken with lives.

Snowy, I don't count you as one with no common sense.
Those that bother with level of fandom are surely missing something in their life, or don't have much going on.

RE: Rumor- game being moved to Friday
If the Governor is calling for a State of Emergency on Friday there is no way this game gets played. I believe we'll know on Wednesday of this week.

We need to begin game planning for UCLA in two weeks. Hope the secondary is ready for the number one QB in college football!! We will need to put up a minimum of 55 to 60 points to beat UCLA....
