Who cares. The fact we are squabbling about this at all speaks volumes to how USM fans continually don't get it.
You dont think its important to know if attendance has been increasing, decreasing, or staying the same, from year to year?
I don't think our program is at the point we should worry about it. we've had dismal attendance for decades. Nothing has changed good/bad in 30 years. it's the same. I don't need "actual" attendance vs "ticket" attendance to figure that out. Squabbling about this is a waste of time. When we start getting numbers in the 32,000 range and can look at the stadium and tell only 24,000 are actually there or vice versa, then lets worry about. Right now, 23,000 vs 28,000 is f'n meaningless to me. They are both worthless numbers that we've put up for 30 years.
You're not entirely wrong.
In one of these recent threads, someone mentioned a star player for people to get behind might help. FFS, we had an NFL Hall of Fame QB for 4 years and drew under 20K during that time.
Yeah, I was there when Favre was playing. Again, it was mixed. On the other hand, check the attendance back around 80-81 when Collier was running all over the place. We had multiple NFL talents on that team and the stadium averaged around 30,000 those years if I remember correctly. Hell, we played Lamar and had over 30,000. You'd think after 36 years we would have built on that fan base. We didn't, we haven't. It's just weird.
amazing.... we beat state and ole miss then have 21,000 show up for the next home game. then have 31,000 for lamar (HC)
then finish with 17K and 21K
81 a little better, finish with 31K against Lamar after beating FSU ( then TTT loss against loserville )
Don't think we averaged 30,000 though....probably not close.
