Also according to KenPom the Socon is ranked 15th overall. That's an impressive ranking, and I think that will be accurate, the Socon should be tough, especially the top 6 teams.
Complete conference rankings

SoCon has finished with 1-2 top 100 teams the past few years. It should happen again. It would be nice to see someone finish top 50 (the Bucs, duh, but not going to push that right now).

More unbiased analysis from PurpleJohn; I'm sorry, I meant to say SoConJohn.

RE: 2017 Athlon Predictions
“Southern Conference preview: Just how good is Furman?”

A bit lofty, eh? They return a lot with a new head coach in a dogfight league. They’ll be improved, but without Acox my question is really how much improved? The top half of the SoCon will be just as fast and aggressive. Defense, rebounding, and FT shooting will win the league this year. Forbes is fine as ever not to have a bunch of hype distracting his players. By the way, Furman will upset at least one team and be upset by more than one, I project, with this kind of fanfare.

Yet another preseason ranking list. Brief, but complimentary, concerning ETSU and Coach Forbes.

Has ETSU at 3rd overall. Only Wofford and Furman are ahead us. I really don't understand Wofford. Am I missing something with them? I don't see anything special about them other than returning Fletcher Mcgee. Last year they completely relied on the 3-point shot and flopping.

ETSU is fourth. Furman, Wofford, Samford. Top 3.

That's right. My bad. I missed Samford
