Howard 43 - UNLV 40. UNLV was a 45 point favorite, biggest upset by points spread ever.

Yup, was his debut tonight.

Howard is only 2 years removed from giving up 76 to Boston College.

Haha Petey. Actually they are only on the schedule next year, and 2021 and 2022. Of course that is subject to change. VT takes up 1 non-conference slot through 2025.

Wow! Liberty beat Baylor and JMU beating ECU!
ODU is behind! We need to tighten up!
We have to at least beat UNC this season. ODU needs to make news for beating key opponents at the FBS.

I agree.....we have been behind the last 3 year because of one thing......lack of effective recruiting. No excuse to be in this situation with our QB, LB, and OL. Our OL got exposed last night. Expect to see week in and week out teams load the box against us. The first play of our game was very telling. A QB that could not see what was happening and an OL to slow to get on blocks and sustain them effectively. If it weren't for 3 big plays....this could have been a loss.

QB?

I am sorry but we have not had a true FBS QB step foot on Foreman Field for the blue. Until we get a QB that can see over the line, I don't consider us FBS.
You can slay me here all you want but QB play was very average against Albany, a middle of the pack FCS team. JMHO
TH was above average FCS and would have been average at best against FBS.
How did Liberty get the STUD they have?

Right with ya ! No excuse for us to be in this situation. Granted Baylor is off this year because of all their issues but we have NEVER beat a team at the level of Baylor. Liberty as done what they have in 2 years. Pretty impressive !! Us on the other hand have accepted beating nobody of significance and have celebrated beating nobodies. If we get hurt against UNC or VT....we might not win 3 more games all season. BL is not the answer.

This concerns me more than anything else I saw last night. It is very, very disturbing.
Our LBs were as well, but Albany didn't have enough offense to compensate for our DLine.

Howard's QB is Cam Newton's brother.

Don't get it with the O line. Aren't these basically the same kids we had last year?

RE: Week One Games Of Interest
2017 could be a long season for ODU football. Seeing BL play reminded me of Shuler Bentley. Jordan Hoy has the ability to be explosive, but there needs to be a line that can protect him.
What happened to the double tight end sets? We used a 300lb tight end against FAU last year. It makes me nervous that we are scheduling all these big games and we end being totally uncompetitive. Everyone was happy with us winning 10 games last season, but guess what? We won games against teams that sucked last season. App State, NC State and WKU whooped our butts!!! We are irrelevant! We have the athletes now and lack coaching and an effective play book.
