VT/WVU was a hard fought game - just what I expected.
I stopped flipping to the aTm/UCLA game when it was 44-10 Aggies... wow!

And then he wastes 3 series in the 3rd quarter by trying to pass the ball.
Sumlin was still passing the ball in the 4th quarter when he could have bled enough of the clock to keep UCLA from having enough possessions to come back. The QB throwing those passes in the 4th quarter was 3-for-17 in the game, but the A&M coaches still kept calling passes.
Sumlin clearly paid attention at the Atlanta Falcons coaching camp he attend this summer
I no longer trust the "win % odds" that these game-trackers produce. There have been too many "amazing, impossible" comebacks recently (e.g., Michigan State > Baylor in the Cotton Bowl, last year's Super Bowl, last night's UCLA game) for me to take these claims that so-and-so had a 99.9% chance of winning (and lost!) seriously.
Bottom line is that with the new passing rules, football is structured for massive comebacks. A 30 point lead, even in the second half, is by no means safe. Thirty years ago, when Maryland trailed Miami by about 30 points and came back to win, that truly was amazing, but not these days.

Les Miles says he's available. Chizik would coach again. But personally speaking they should use an interim and try to hire an established coach away from somebody else. They do pay quite well!
Yeah, I agree that if they are interested in pulling the plug on Sumlin before the end of the season, an interim from the current staff is the way to go. Who do they hire for the 2018 campaign? Chip Kelly? Frank Wilson UTSA? Scott Frost UCF? Mike Bobo CSU? Brent Venables D.C. Clemson? There are a few interesting canidates out there, but who gets the Aggie fan base the most excited, and who is truly the best fit?

IMO, Dan Mullen would win and win fairly big at A&M. He knows how to reshape QB's into competitors and he is defensive oriented. The only issue is he isn't quite the name splash that the Big Money Donors in Texas like to crow about. But just look what the BMD's have landed at UT & A&M. Never have the stupid rich screwed up two programs in a talent rich state like they have consistently done at those two schools, and just when Texas Tech was hitting its stride under Leach they screwed that up too! Gotta love Texans! They'd be danged hard to beat if they didn't regularly shoot themselves in the foot.

Herbstreet should be punched in the nuts every game day.
You'll have to get in line for your turn to punch him.

Howard (MEAC) 43 UNLV 40
Tennessee St (OVC) 17 Georgia St 10
Texas St 20 Houston Baptist 11
The bad performance category should be if you loss to an FCS school or blew a late 3rd quarter lead of 34 points. As long as the school won, that is all that matters. As long as the record says 1-0, it is easy for a head coach to face the media after the game no matter the opponent. It is much more difficult to face the media when you lost to an FCS School or you blew a 34 point lead.

Or Pittsburgh needing overtime to beating a FCS school.
It's definitely not been a great weekend for the ACC. 1 of their title contenders is done and another was trailing to a mediocre at best Purdue team in the 4th quarter.
Now I want to see Ohio State play one of his teams.
