FWIW, I don't think ECU will be looking to schedule JMU again anytime soon.

I'd like to play you every year. You have d-1 talent and if our AD wants to play a FCS team, we might as well play the best.

Agree 100%. I noticed on the yard markers last night they had P6 on the top of them last night. There is no P6 and never will be. It doesn't happen just because you say it exists. If anything, it will stymie any moves for the G5 to develop its own level of national playoff for at least a decade probably until the AAC finally gets a clue that it isn't invited into the Power Conference Country Club - AND NEVER WILL BE!!

Some might pat them on the back for "trying". Lots of failures "tried". This marketing campaign is on par with the Big 12's ridiculous "One True Champion" thing where they wound up with co-champions with no conference title game. Nice 'try' but really stupid - and to a degree very insulting to Joe Public's intelligence.

I never use the monikers FBS or FCS. I think they are dumb and tired. I'm perfectly fine going old school with D1A and D1AA. Nowadays, D1A really is defined by P5 and G5. And, that gap will only get wider and wider as we are seeing.

I can point to a lot more failures who didn't try. Just sayin'.

I want to echo others' sentiments - had a great time in Greenville. Good bunch of folks down there. Unfortunately, I think they're in for a long year. Was listening to their post-game radio show and the hosts were openly hoping for 0-12 so they could justify making a coaching change.

I wonder if they were looking across the field for who that might be.

Yeah. That seemed to be the feeling. Heard a lot of chatter in the stadium in the second half and after the game to the effect of "why the **** isn't THAT guy our coach?" We need to enjoy this ride while it lasts.

JMU has D1 talent because JMU (ahem) happens to play D1. And as far as I'm concerned, I have no objections to playing ECU every year. For the foreseeable future it would appear to be easy money and a win for JMU. 04-cheers

04-bow Congratulations to the Dukes with a well deserved win. 04-bow
I'm hoping you guys are really that good because ECU really stunk it up last night, and I'm hoping we can still win a few this year. Enjoyed talking to the JMU fans on the way into the stadium and a couple during the game.
BTW the way, you may notice I've changed my 'root for' based on a wager for a while.
Hope you guys run the table.
Go Dukes!

Thank you. Had some good conversations with your fans as well. I wouldn't get too discouraged. A couple of run gap assignments missed really killed you guys. I'll give our guys up front a lot of credit for that, but from your standpoint, you can/will improve.

Also, you guys could benefit by deciding on a QB. I thought each of them played OK. Your receivers are beasts so they need to get the ball via somebody. I wish we could play every year but I think it'll be the last time in a long time barring a conference change. I hope and think that you'll agree we belong.

Are we going to post about Houston leaving JMU all season? Just enjoy the job that he and his staff is doing and the performance of the team. It's like the media- you squawk about it enough it may actually happen. Truth is none of us know what Mike Houston is thinking and how long he will be JMU coach. He could be the coach to stay at JMU for 20 years keep getting raises and take us FBS- you never know.

If every thread about the team and Houston is going to devolve into - he could be the next ECU or whomever coach- it's going to get tiresome to get through all season.

Come on. I don't think this will be brought up every week because I don't see Houston leaving for ETSU, Norfolk State, or anybody else in the CAA. It was relevant to ECU for what should be obvious reasons.

It wouldn't be ECU unless you want to live in a land of overgrown grass and strip malls.

It'll be brought up in every thread every year until he leaves. I can guarantee you. It's the new "FBS or Bust" infection on our message board.

It will be brought up every week one way or another. It's relevant.

If Houston leaves after this season for average or below G5 gig, a la Withers, or a non HC job at a P5, we've got our answer about JMU's conference future.

He may stay a few years if he is waiting on a mid-atlantic ACC gig if JMU treats him well but don't forget we are dealing with JMU, JMU will not pay top dollar for a sports coach.

Yes sir. Sorry sir. Anything else you don't want us mentioning?

ECU's current coach makes a million dollars a year. ECU fans at the game (were you there?) were openly discussing the fact that they loved the way we played and wished they had MH. Let's ignore it though.

CAA to AAC might be a bit too much of a jump for the ECU muckety mucks to swallow (NDSU's three-peater Craig Bohl left for a $750K job at Wyoming, after all). But ignoring the possibility makes it more likely (not less) that he leaves. I'm thinking specifically of Kenny Brooks as I say that.

Well, if we're going to go down this path, someone start a "who's the next HC".

Dude, unless you're a million dollar donor, what do you expect? It's not that JMU "will not" pay top dollar, it's that they can't. Simple as that. However you want to break it down, we're a stepping stone program and if somebody gives the guy $3 million a year or something, I'll wish him the best and root for him. It is what it is. Hopefully he has an ambition to finally take us up to the next level and we can retain him and pay him.

Congrats to JMU for soundly thumping my Pirates. It was more than humbling, it was humiliating and that's a credit to your coaching staff and players. I wasn't one of the ECU fans underestimating JMU but collectively we deserve to be kicked while we're down so fire away.

I should not have used the term top dollar...I meant JMU already stretched for Withers and Houston at $300K. JMU won't widen the pay gap between football and the other sports.

Look at history, wrong or right, JMU won't pay up for a coach.

What do you think will happen, assume JMU runs the table which is tough but could happen.
