Rice swimmer the new head of NASA

Jim Bridenstine will be named the new administrator of NASA, according to the White House. I wanted to make sure he swam at Rice (even though I do remember him from some of the teams when I worked there), and I found an interesting old Houston Press story that references Bridenstine sending the athletic director Bobby May a letter supporting ex-coach Kris Wingenroth when she was in the midst of a battle trying to save her job.

Yes, Bridenstine was a 4 year letterman and school record holder. And many of us wrote letters in support of Kris. Rice athletics has one individual who was there for every step in our sports' decline, reread the Press article with benefit of seeing Rice's athletics record over the years!

Another Rice athlete, politician and Navy pilot, Pete Olson represents the district where the Johnson Space Center is located.

RE: Rice swimmer the new head of NASA
just as football has "running back U" or "tightend U," we should be "NASA U"

and in general, maybe the next Rice TV spot should include some seconds of interview from Jim Bridenstine, or maybe he can be the narrator for the whole spot

I would feel better if he had a STEM background.

Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson blast the selection of Bridenstine.
