RE: Game Day: Charlotte
Looks like fewest points we've allowed against an FBS team since 2007 (19-2 against WMU).

Very conservative.

Hopefully we're saving our playbook for Rutgers, lol.

I'd guess that.

BTW, did folks watching on the webcast see how the sideline was trying to shield the signals from the PRESS BOX using a banner?

I assume watching tape, staffs can see the signals and the defense and 'steal the signals' simply by correlating what they observe.

Stars of the game?

Harris and Hoying on defense and Roback on offense.

Harris and Hoying had a lot of really good, key plays while Roback, while not spectacular, led the offense to an easy win.

Attendance was 12,823. That seems very accurate. The student section was packed.

I think they should do something to get more people to the east side. Maybe put the band and students over there, create a tailgate area on that side, etc...

RE: Game Day: Charlotte
Housekeeping: The new lights were great, the home men's rest room has improved, the programs are now free. The bad: the visitor side restrooms need better maintenance and cleaning. The green smoke well I haven't seen so much colored smoke since Blue Oyster Cult back in the 70s. The attendance was disappointing on such a beautiful night for a game. Need to continue to improve. Concession prices as always reasonable.

Lots of guys not dressed for the game, Sow, Valasti among them. Kemp was not dressed at TE which means we used Fields and Andrews as our TE. Hullibarger got hurt will be out for a while. Will look for Glass next home game.

I thought the third quarter was the best consistent quarter I saw overall team wise. The defense started to dial in the pass rush after the first half which meant our DB weren't sitting on an island. The fourth quarter was disappointing offense wise. It was like watching a car with missing cylinders. I don't know if the guys were gassed but our offensive line was not creating holes for the RBs on a consistent basis. I'm concerned about that moving forward. I thought our defense in the second half was outstanding the first half not so and we got bailed out on one drive by two 15 yard penalities.

Special teams: I thought the snaps were done well, we did to get the kickoffs in the end zone with more consistency, the punting well that needs improvement and consistency as well. Two punts with two consecutive illegal formations is not acceptable and that's on the coaching staff to fix.

Nice seeing Super who informed me that they are re-coating the basketball floor.

And why many of us have concerns, it was a first game and a win against a FBS opponent not a FCS one. Lets hope they work the kinks out moving forward. And Brogan for the most part was right on target with his passes.

Noted Willie Parker RB was not suited up as well, maybe injured or redshirting this year.

Also noted that Quian Williams frosh WR had a foot injury likely redshirt this year.

I'm not sure what to make of the attendance. It wasn't great. It wasn't terrible either.

I did see a shot or two of the home side. It did look there were a good number of fans in seat from the student section, through midfield and down near south Red Zone.

Don't know how many were up by the Convo enjoying their beverages.

An interesting test would be if say the game was vs. Army or another name opponent.

After week 1 the only MAC team with a win over another FBS school is EMU. When's the last time that happened?

When the money that Pepsi pays the University doesn't have to be used to get us to the 15,000 NCAA average every two years. They are working on attendance both in basketball with their two for one season tickets and if the weather is nice on 9/23 I expect a good turnout for Boy Scout Day. They are smart the best to get large groups is through affinity marketing especially youth organizations.

Don't hold your breath.

Only a few MAC teams average 15K+ and they are in 'big markets' and have successful program. Think TOL, WMU.

Other successful teams like NIU, Ohio, CMU, etc. can hit that number when they have good teams and desirable schedules.

Half the MAC played either FCS or the #4,#5,#6 ranked teams. That narrows it down a bit.

Steele's ranked the other MAC opponents:
#52 Minnesota
#55 BC
#76 MSU
#84 Marshall
#101 Illinois
#127 Charlotte

Highest ranked MAC team was #68.
Of these 6 teams, EMU was the only one not over matched.

WMU still has the best team in MAC. PJ loaded that team with the best talent, and the new staff came in and did a good job picking up where he left off.

Agree. Other than an issue at QB, they are solid.

They are deeper at RB in 2017, than 2016, I think.

They have 3 legit RBs who could make all-MAC playing on other teams.

When the old great Big Ten running teams would go out to the West Coast and get behind in a game, they would lose just about every time because their passing game was not developed enough.
