RE: 2017 CFB Thread
Certainly the USC game was one Kelly had to win, and win decisively, so I think the pressure continues to ease up on him, but he is one scandal away from being tossed. He had better make sure his players are home in bed every night and don't get implicated in any sort of "fake grade" type scandals.

Yeah, I think he's relatively "safe."

Kelly has a tough, but a good chance of landing Notre Dame in the playoff this year.

He's definitely good and looking at it from our program's perspective, sure. From Notre Dame's, not so much. What has Kelly really done at Notre Dame? Has he won a championship? Has he won a major bowl? He got smoked by Alabama in the BCS Championship and by Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. He has won the Sun Bowl, Pinstripe Bowl and the Music City Bowl. He's definitely had more success than Charlie Weis, Ty Willingham and Bob Davie but this is NOTRE DAME and more is expected than just being good. I don't think he's off the hot seat yet and I don't think he's been that great at Notre Dame IMO.

Notre Dame football isn't what it was 30 years ago. Unless they loosen the academic requirements, as it was under Holtz, and not interfere how the HC punishes his players, Notre Dame will continue along those path. Also, the NBC contract isn't as big of a deal with conf networks and major tv deals. L

BK has done very well. He made a NC game, which many coaches never do. He's no longer on the hot seat and may very well make the playoff.

BK demanded...and got...huge concessions from ND on admissions and discipline when he was hired in 2009. He demanded that FB players not be subjected to the "ResLife" board (so he could handle discipline internally...remember the whole Golden Tate DUI matter?) and substantial waivers and lee-way from Admissions in the recruiting of players.

So...

Well, I know many Notre Dame fans, including several in my family, and they don't feel the same way. Again, BK is a good coach and I'll never forget what he did for our program. I just don't agree with the same sentiment and time will tell on how his career plays out at ND (maybe sooner rather than later).

Many Notre Dame fans dont know how well they have it. Notre Dame lost the shine a long time ago, and their schedule is a gauntlet. It's very possible they won't do much better than they are under Kelly, unless they join a conference.

Kelly has had ND in a championship game (they got blown out but they were there). They are 6-1 this year with a one point loss to currently undefeated and #3 ranked Georgia. They just got done showing the higher ranked USC team that they don't belong on the same field. They have a ridiculous TV contract that they don't have to share with conference mates. I'm not a Kelly lover but I wish UC was in the tough spot ND is in by not being able to do much better than they currently are.

Kelly is a great coach. He has all the qualities. He reminds me of the ole ball coach from florida. At the end of the day, many Notre Dame fans are legends in their own minds. We saw what happened when they played the Tide.

BC looked good tonight. They beat the tar out of FSU. So one sided I turned it off.

35-12, at half. Memphis would beat a whole lotta ranked teams.

We better run on Tulane. They give up 230 yards a game and have given up 211 to Memphis so far.

Tulsa lost a TD when a WR started strutting into the end zone. After the 15 yard spot foul they got a FG so they lost 4 points. SMU won 38-34

RE: 2017 CFB Thread
I vaguely remember the fullback Carey brother (Craig maybe?) scoring a TD and yanking off his helmet in the end zone resulting in a 15 yd penalty. On review, the TD was overturned because he was down before crossing the line. We went from a TD to something like 2nd or 3rd and goal from the 17. I believe we ended up with a fg. Anybody else remember the details of this? I seem to think it was against Syracuse but my kids are having an affect on my 40 year old brain.
