Sometimes it is more satisfying to win when expectations are not so high. In order to crush expectations, they first have to be raised so a lot of time high expectations is just a prelude to disappointment. OTOH last year I think most people thought that the Lady Rockets would be competitive but not a lot people were really expecting them to bring home the tourney trophy and win a trip to the NCAA. The fact that they did just made their accomplishments even more satisfying and exciting.
