EZU haiku & limerick thread
A sampling...

Get ready Pirates
Dowdy-Ficklen here we come
The Dukes gonna crush

Dukes fans rolling in
You WILL know we have arrived
We win the tailgates

Weather don't matter
Rain or shine or wind or snow
Dukes fans are rootin'

Stop and smell roses
My fellow Dukes supporters
Welcome back football

Here we go, can't wait
First stop to Fifteen and Oh
Budweiser is good

***********************

I knew a young coach named Scottie
Whose buttocks are hot on his body
Not because the ladies think so
Nor because he's a ho
Instead, 3 wins is considered shoddy

(welcome to Game Week Hump Day Poetry Corner)

04-cheers

There once was a Nerdy college president
Whose move to FBS tackle football was hesitant
But he aligned with a silver fox
And learned to think outside the box
Soon he won't be so darn reticent

Your buddy,
Terry Holland

A do-it yourselfer named Pee-Dee,
His hands in his pants, so seedy,
The fans cheering in awe,
He kept fumbling the ball,
A mascot-less team so needy!

A meeting of Pirates and Dukes
Means a battle that few can rebuke
- We shall watch it unfold
- Victor Purple and Gold
And if JMU wins it's a "fluke"

There once was a pirate named EZ
Whose eye patch was stinky and sleazy
He thought he could beat a dog who was royal
But instead he just stunk up the field and recoiled

The old days. Hard to imagine but I was a senior in college 50 years ago and the Irish in me and in Albany NY often had me at a college hang-out dive pub by the name of O'Heaney. No I won't start a limerick with that juicy word O'Heaney. But we would often close the bar at 3am after a couple of hours of: Can you top this limerick?

Aye, Aye ...Aye Aye. In China they do it with whistles.....

The limericks got bawdier as we neared 3 am.

O'Heaney was a retired police beat reporter for the Albany newspaper and told us young-ins about Legs Diamond, Dutch Schultz and those bootlegging days of Prohibition. Joe O'Heaney died in 1968, his wife was so impressed when we all showed for his funeral.

Anyway the inspiration for A do-it yourselfer named Pee-Dee was that famous one about the do-it yourselfer named Alice....

I was hoping for more limericks on this thread as the back and forth with the ECU folks wore me out.
