Tuesday Question: The Upset Pick Of Week One Is …
@Jeremy Harper, SunBeltHeat: Arkansas State over Nebraska

Hate to sound like a homer, but the Red Wolves have a legit shot at messing up Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers lost 30 seniors from the 2016 team, including their starting and backup QBs. Now they’re rolling with Tulane transfer Tanner Lee, who – despite the hype – has thrown just two more TDs (23) than interceptions (21).

Of course, playing in Lincoln is no easy task – the Red Wolves have visited twice and have been destroyed both times – but this time, Arkansas State is sporting one of the most disruptive defensive lines in football, and boasts a size advantage at wide receiver.

If head coach Blake Anderson can get the offense running smoothly, and if the Red Wolves can overcome the big front seven of the Cornhusker defense, they’ll collect their first win over a Power Five opponent since 2008.

Harper does great work, but I don't consider it any sort of news that he's picking an upset. He'd pick us to beat Alabama by 24 points if the confidence was particularly high going into the game.

I'll say this much, I think it's going to be tough for Nebraska to beat the spread and y'all keep it close. I have this game as one of my 5 team parlay bet I placed in Vegas. I agree with all your points and think you have a real shot.

State loses by 35 points because of Blake Anderson tinkering.

I really don't think our defense is giving up that many points. They are solid.

stAte has size advantage at outside WR and Nebraska has a relatively inexperienced secondary staring. A-State DC isn't prone to BS - he's the one who said we couldn't stop a hard charging marching band in 2014 when APP exposed our rushing defense and Texas State and Toledo used that template to stomp us. He said Monday that our offensive line is better than prior years he's been here. So there's that.

Of course everyone sounds optimistic this time of year, but I'll bite on the 17 points - check that - it has been bet down to 14.5.

Jeff Reed said today that it was ULL that exposed stAte's terrible rushing defense that year . . . I suppose he's right as they were 56-419 for 7.5 per carry and 8 rushing TDs. Evidently Idaho and USA didn't pick up on it.
