RE: Starting lineup/Playing Time?
I think I owe everyone an apology for derailing this thread.
Back on subject: Has anyone been to a practice yet? We are all sitting here speculating but I am curious to know if anyone has seen our team first hand. Alex Riley mentioned on a web cast that he thinks Fornes or Elmore could be this year's breakout player. He also said the staff was high on Elmore.

Fornes looks jacked in the strength picture

As Church would say, any song sung by George Strait is country at it's best.

Never been a big fan of country, but, as my wife and her family listen often, i've become tolerant.

RE: Starting lineup/Playing Time?
It's really interesting how a different staff sees things differently. Elmore never seemed like a good fit under Keatts' style of running but is apparently impressing the new coaches. I saw him plenty in high school and never really saw him at this level but I also think there is a fine line on mid-major talent. I think the PG from CFCC will show that also - it would not surprise me if he can excel at UNCW.

The key may be the staff's ability to develop players.

Elmore has nice shot presentation and should be able to step out and hurt somebody. If he can get tough near the hole, he can really help out. We have a great staff for just that so the bigs should have a really good chance to improve.

RE: Starting lineup/Playing Time?
Elmore lost a lot of confidence under Keatts. He was often watching practice while walk on's were playing. At 6'8" he can score from every spot on the floor, there's got to be a place for that. The knock has been that Matt is truly a nice guy and was playing too "nice" on the floor for Keatts. He is also working with Cacock on developing his shot outside of practice.

We're going to be relying on a lot of youth on the floor. Cacock, Fornes and Talley are going to be our more experienced players on the floor and that's not a bad core. We'll see how Elmore, the new big man, Ty Taylor and the freshmen add to the mix.

IMO, Elmore is going to have to speed his style of play up a little bit to hang with D1 teams, especially in the CAA. Hope he can improve and be a solid contributor for us.

Good point 06. I don't believe many incoming freshmen have a good handle on the speed of the DI game (except the one & doners).

RE: Starting lineup/Playing Time?
What I noticed most with Elmore last season was he was thinking too much on the court. When he gets more comfortable it will come more natural to him. I believe he is like most big men, it takes a while for his potential to surface. My hope for him is that it happens sooner than later. If it does happen, he will be very helpful to this team. He may never get past role player, but that would be just fine for him and this team.

Has anyone heard anything about Daniel Etoroma? He's listed on our roster for next year but I can't find much on him. I assuming he will be a walk-on. As far as I can tell he last played for Lewis & Clark in Juco.

I think you are spot on CG. If he can get quicker, it will help tremendously.

A walk-on. Was around last year but did not play. Don't know why. At least that is what I heard. Other than that - I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
