Just removed Three posters from my ignore list. Amnesty has been granted. How long it lasts?

Really? Generally speaking, people don't change. So I predict quick frustration and +3 to your "ignore list" within a several days.

Pretty much my experience. I have 90 people on Ignore, lol.

RE: New Season, 2nd Chances
I wonder how many people have me on their list?
To be honest I feel like ignoring message may take away from the board.

This is a fair point. On any discussion board I've been a member of, I never have ignored anyone (even though there were some real a$$holes). TBH, it seems childish. Unless someone is harassing you, I don't see the need.

In general I have three, basic categories of what gets a person on my "ignore" list...and for the record, there are 15 active users on that list.
1) The "Obvious" troll (e.g. "Miko"). This is a poster who posts nothing of value, in fact they only post to divert a discussion and cause trouble. Granted, this is a subjective judgment, but we all know at least one user who has no interest in truly conversing but only puts stuff up to piss people off. IMO, it's just easier to outright "ignore" someone like this because arguing doesn't get you anywhere.
2) The "Delusional" poster (e.g. "DavidSt"). It can be hard to differentiate this poster from the first category, but in general the "Obvious Troll" doesn't believe what they are saying but the "Delusional Poster" really does believe what they are posting but it's so bat-crap-crazy (i.e. "Division 2 schools that are 'close' to moving up to FBS...") that it isn't really worth talking with them because they live in a different reality than you. What tends to get someone on the "ignore" list is the VOLUME of their fantastical postings. Most of us "go out on a limb" and indulge a fantasy on these boards every now and then, but what differentiates the "Delusional poster" from that is that they spend 99% of their time out in "Fantasy Land."
3) The "Personal Conflict" Poster. Again, this is a value-judgment, but we all have at least one other poster who, for whatever reason, we react especially badly towards...and they to us. They don't have to be a "bad" person, but for whatever reason we just don't get along. And sometimes, when it happens over...and over...and over again it just gets old. And sometimes it's just better to "ignore" that person than to have a go at them. And yes...sometimes it's OK to be on someone else's "ignore" list as well.
It just is what it is.

Revel in your rights guys! This is where regular posters have it far better than any moderator.

I rather enjoy reading most of the loony and trolling posts on message boards. They make me laugh.

Other than spamming, why would you ignore anyone? For one they can be quoted and you can read their stuff anyways but aside from that you can just ignore them visually and move on. You might miss out on an insightful post by doing so.

100% agree with you both - Thick skin
I too have bumped heads with some but even than never saw the need to hang them on ignore.

Why is it childish? No sense in debating someone who is churlish.
