So this year was the first year where teams who travel to Hawaii can play their extra home game on "Week 0." So not only can you play an extra game, but now you can play during a week where you will be guaranteed to get national TV coverage.

If I was ECU's AD, we'll first action would be to fire a Lebo. Second action would be on the phone and getting a H&H scheduled with them on as yearly a basis as possible. Not only will they be a decent opponent most years, the year we have them away we get the extra game AND can now play that extra game and get guaranteed national TV. Could even get some good teams to agree to play that game too and maybe be primetime. This would also allow us to maybe play a damn away game on Labor Day weekend once in a while.

2018 Navy goes to Hawai'i over Labor Day weekend. 13th game will be Lehigh game (13th game rule has long been in place) and it was recently announced that it will be Week 0 game.

Should be visitor officials, like any other inter-conference game...

Hawai'i fans are worse than WVU fans. Seriously...there is no shortage of stories of how BAD the experience is of going out there and playing in the rusting hulk that is "Aloha" stadium.

A trip to Hawai'i sounds good in theory but it is expensive, it is LONG (serious jet-lag for the team), it is hard for the fans at home to even watch...especially on the East Coast (due to time-zones), and by most accounts it's a wretched experience. No thanks.

I get why it makes sense for NAVY to do this game. By all means. I could see the other Service Academies as well, but especially NAVY...with a side trip to Pearl Harbor, of course.

Sounds great at first blush but I just don't know about sending our team 6k+ miles to play a football game. They would need a bi the next Saturday to recover for the next game. Ever had jet lag like that? Its not fun to have to recover from on short notice. I don't think its worth the 13th game. Just my 2c.

Yes. Winnable game, would do a home-and-home with Tulane, and people have heard of them (name recognition).
