War Memorial Buyout Of Next Year?
In this morning's ADG, Wally Hall speculates on the prospect that Fayetteville may buy out the final game of its contract with War Memorial Stadium. The contract says that the game in 2018 must be an SEC game. According to Hall, the buyout would be $350-500K, chump change for that outfit.

Anybody want to give odds on this Thursday's game being the last one for Fayetteville in WMS?

The swine WILL play Vanderbilt at WMS next year. It's a 'marketing ploy' by C. Wallace to get butts in the seats by saying it 'might' be the last swine game at WMS. Too bad FAMU can't afford to bring their band. They are very entertaining! Thursday's game is the warm up for the Benton-Bryant game at WMS which more people will attend. Thursday is also looking to be washout thanks to remnants from Hurricane Harvey.

I tend to agree that an SEC game will be played here next year, and agree probably Vandy. Fayetteville is going to piss off enough people who don't reside in NW AR without adding insult to injury to that fan base.

And you are right, a Wally Hall "marketing ploy" is exactly what this morning's column was. He is deathly afraid that there will be thousands of empty seats on Thursday Night.

I'm not sure. Their annual Jerry World Game with A&M next year is scheduled to be a Swine home game. If they pull a 2nd SEC game and put it in Little Rock, it would mean playing only 2 SEC home games in Fayetteville, something I am sure they would like to avoid

It's probably talk, but I could see them frantically working out a deal to switch it to an OOC game as well.

I also figured it was a marketing ploy, by Wally, but you make a good point Chiefsfan. Be interesting to see what happens.

RE: War Memorial Buyout Of Next Year?
Last year ua home games were
Florida
Bama
Ole Miss
LSU
Those are all road games this year and Florida is replaced with AT South Carolina
Next year home games are
Vandy
Bama
Ole Miss
LSU

According to

http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-18/2018-...hedule.php

The Texas A&M game on the schedules I looked at is not listed as a home or road game. It is just listed as the Southwest Classic.

So, according to that web, site even if Vandy was played in LR next year, ua would still have 3 sec games on campus.

You're right...I caught that last night. I pay about negative 3 percent attention to UAF, so the only thing I knew was that Yahoo had the game listed as a Texas A&M home game because we play SMU in Dallas the same week.

I will admit, if you guys have never considered completely going weeks without even paying attention to the Swine, its absolutely a wonderful feeling. I couldn't name you a single player on that team this year, and its awesome.
