The weather forecast right now is absolutely perfect. Should be a good crowd. Important to win that game and carry it forward to the next games.

Things I will looking at:

Long snapping.

Yes, we typically see the GAME NOTES in the late afternoon Monday of game week, when the game is say a Friday night or Saturday.

The 2-deeps are part of the game notes.

Some surprises, like Derric Williams starting over Kyle Rachwal, and Brody Hoying over Anthony Brown. I doubt this will be the only OL combination we use, but hopefully I'm wrong and they gel into a reliable unit.

After years of watching English trot out 270-290 pound DT's, it's nice to see a bunch of hogs in there. Dawson, Granger, and Figueroa all had moments last year, and Kelly sounds like he will be a solid addition. We should be really good up front.

No Glass listed either. Stiebeling and Skupin list behind Brogan.

Kinda surprised by Bukoski and Hickey starting on the left side of the line.

RE: Charlotte 49ers at EMU
When ETough mentioned the unpredictability of the OL situation, I figured the only sure starter was Leatiota. I'm most surprised that Armstrong couldn't lock down a spot, but wasn't expecting Bukoski and Hickey to beat him out. Those came out of nowhere.

Personally, I think it could be Creighton wanting to figure out combinations before the tougher games (no disrespect to Charlotte), and any of these guys could win a job with impressive play. The one thing you don't want to be doing is shuffling linemen around all season, but we might have to do that over the first few games before we find a group that he's comfortable with.

Sam, I hope we aren't by design (or necessity) using Charlotte as if it were a FCS 1st game to experiment with lineups, etc. etc.

I just hope CC is trying to hide his OL for the Rutgers game...

I believe that Bukowski listed as a first string player in the media guide. So he didn't really come from nowhere.

Surprised that Sow is not on the depth chart after Etough spoke well of him. Maybe they figure if he is not a starter than they will just red shirt him.

MacLean at DE. That further underscores the depth on the d-line.

Many teams use the OOC schedule for just that: finding combinations of inexperienced units that work the best together. The guys listed as starters did enough in camp to get a shot, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will translate to a real game. We should be strong enough in other areas to beat Charlotte while getting a solid look at a couple different linemen.

One other thought which may apply to the OL:

If a starter is listed as 2nd or 3rd string that could mean an injury may keep him from starting or playing.

It does NOT necessarily mean a demotion.

RE: Charlotte 49ers at EMU
All of this is very fluid, especially the OLine, other than Leiatota & Tallman.
Would also take this list with a grain of salt. Banham in front of Turner & Eriksen, not.
Rachwal is a speed thing I believe. DCoord prefers it over size.
Expect to see a lot of corner rotation until CB sorts itself out. Williams a little scary.
Sow invisible because of foreign eligibilty nonsense again, I believe.
Hoying finally healthy, and just a playmaker, bottom line.

Same as day 1, feel good about everything except offensive tackles. Hopefully the concern is overblown.

Everybody get to the game and bring your friends!
