Exclamation New Mexico State To Play Liberty ... Twice?
Forgive me if this has already been talked about, but ... this has to be an error right?

You are forgiven. They both had holes in the schedule and did an in season home and home. Kinda unusual but kinda cool. Two wins for NMSU right?

IIRC, NMSU and Idaho played home and home when they were both independents.

I think that's a really good schedule for NMSU. The Liberty twice is different, but the rest of the games for them are really nice with NM and UTEP on schedule.

I agree that's not a bad schedule at all considering how much time their AD had to put it togeather. 3 of the 5 home games are against competition that should be familiar with the home fans plus the away games against UTEP, Texas St, BYU, Utah St & ULL should be considered good regional match-ups.

We were schedule to play each other twice, but then due to SBC needing to fill its schedule, Idaho played TXST and NMSU played ULL.

I remember UConn and UMass doing this years ago. As far as I know it is.

NCAA doesn't care how you schedule. They just care that you have at least 5 home games, 4 against FBS Teams, and you play the necessary number of games required for bowl eligibility.

Interesting... had no idea you can do that. Troy should play UAB four times a year then... would be four easy wins for the Trojans! 04-rock

We did it this year in basketball with Florida Gulf Coast. We scheduled them home and away just because nobody else with a decent RPI wants to schedule us.

NMSU and Liberty also have a home/home in 2019.

No, it isn't. As a result:
  • the 2nd game won't count in conference standings or towards conference championship considerations;
  • both teams are placed on double-secret probation;
  • Both teams are prohibited from accepting NY6 and CFP bowl invitations.

It was scheduled but never played. My guess, the same will happen for both teams once they reschedule and find another team to add to the schedule.
