Olekanma looked good before his injury last season. Taafe looked slow, confused and overmatched, including taking some very bad lines to the ball and huge difficulty getting off blocks. Regardless who starts, we need better play from that position to get where we want to be this season.

really liked the tapes on the freshman LBs. That's a position you can play as a frosh if someone else is making the calls. If you can tackle you can tackle.

In spite of his mistakes Taafe did show a spark at times. Maybe he just needs some flame pants.

Taafe had a real nice freshman season on special teams, seem to recall him making a lot of tackles on kickoff coverage.
Last year he was thrust into action due to injuries to Coleman & Olekanma. Taffe made some plays, but obviously missed others.
Hopefully he has taken the opportunity to work on and improve his game in the off season. He could be an important piece in determining how the Rocket defense performs. Having a healthy Olekanma, gives the Rockets some depth, and the ability to rotate guys thru to keep them fresh, should help.
