Former players = future H.S. coaches, our best ambassadors, and potentially our largest donors. The Blazer Club should be free to every former player &+1 every Saturday.

That's going a little far. What happens in 20 years when you have more players wanting g to take advantage of it than you have seats available?

We'll still be a in Legion Field, so It's probably not going to be a problem. LOL

30 scholarships a year for the next 20 years, = 600 players & 600 +1s = 1200 tickets per game .

I'm pretty sure that isn't going to break the bank.

If numbers ever get to be a legitimate concern, cap the freebees at 1000 per game.

Still this seems like an easy fix.

I have brought my kids in the past when they were infants, and I have never had to have a ticket for them. Only when they were bigger (like age 3) did we start using tickets for them.

This is the info I was looking for. So we used to let infants in for free, but we changed it for this year.

Yes. I brought my twins to every home game in 2014. They were 6 months old at the beginning of the season and got in free.

I told the ticket office as well as Mark that this is not a common policy whatsoever among our peers. While the ticket office agreed the policy didn't make a lot of sense in light of that, it didn't seem to matter much to the AD at all.

Ingram shouldn't be micromanaging the ticket office anyway, or else why even have a ticket office? If they don't think it makes sense, it should probably be their call, since they are the ones selling tickets.

Mark is the smartest person at UAB. Just sit in a room with him for five minutes. He will let you know.

I see how it might look that way, but don't you think this one issue is a legitimate concern?

Everything UAB did the last go 'round was bush league. Very rarely did we approach anything with excellence, not the least of which was fan relations.

We can't afford not to put our best foot forward on the day of the return. If a family feels like they are being fleeced at the gate (not knowing that they needed a ticket for their infant, and being rejected entry until they go and buy one), then we have given a poor first impression that will be very tough to overcome.

Would we have known this was a new policy had someone on the boards not dealt with it personally? I bought my single game tickets and don't remember seeing anywhere that I needed to review new ticket policies.

I took my children as infants and toddlers, too. For free.

A couple weeks back, I paid for 10 season tickets: five basketball, five football. Because my children grew up properly, like Sara, as Blazers.

You see, Fumbles, it's an investment. Put down the doughnut, grab hold of both ears and pull. This is how you build life-long fans. Now granted, you will not be here in 10 years, so why should you care about these babies holding season tickets in 2040? Here's a hint: When you leave UAB, it won't be because you got a better job.

OK I agree but Why do some other posters on the board thing the football foundation should be micromanaging IT ?

Okay, since I was the first one to mention that (by the way, I did so as a question, not as a recommendation), I'll chime in. The only reason I did mention it was because it's was obvious by the conversation that Ingram doesn't sympathize. His boss, FRW, isn't going to care either. FRW's supervisors, well...

So who, with enough influence, steps in to say, "Hey, probably want to rethink that."

Kids under 3 should get in free for all athletic events. Fyi I've had issues with then when I've attended Auburn sports events. I had to have a ticket to get in a baseball game for my son when he was under 2 down here. They require tickets for everyone attending.

I got an email from AD Ingram this afternoon that said this issue was being taken to the external relations team for discussion.

RE: Tickets for Babies and Toddlers
As much as I don't like it, it's the norm for 14 teams in the conference to charge full price and every body needs a ticket. No matter the age. I think Rice is the only 1 who allows 3 and under in free. I forget but I think it's UTEP or UTSA that charges kids 13 and under half price.
This is after calling the ticket office and talking to a superviser. The "NCAA rule" answer is bs. I checked and corrected whoever was on the phone who finally put me In touch with a ticket office supervisor and explained why the "everybody needs a ticket" rule.

A search of each teams ticket site shows that. I hate it and they should've let everyone know instead of having to find out this way. But I think enough people calling have set somethings in motion. Apparently they have gotten a lot of calls about it.

This is just patently false. Like, completely made up. Not even a little bit true.

No it does not. You didn't even bother, so here, I've done it for you, links and all:

Charlotte: "Everyone two (2) years of age and older must have a valid ticket to gain entry to Jerry Richardson Stadium. Admission for youth under the age of two is free of charge. "

FIU: "FIU Athletics requires everyone 2 years old and above to have a ticket for admission into all FIU Athletic events. Children under the age of 2 with free admission are not allowed to occupy an individual seat and must sit on the ticket holder's lap."

FAU: "All persons 3 years of age and older must have a ticket for admission to FAU football games. Children 2 & under do not need a ticket, but must sit on someone's lap."

Marshall: "Everyone age three (3) years and older must have a ticket to enter Joan C. Edwards Stadium and The Henderson Center."

LaTech: "All children 4 years or older must have a ticket. Any children younger than 4 years old get in for free."

MTSU: "Everyone who enters our facilities must have a ticket to enter EXCEPT children under the age of three."

North Texas: "Children under the age of 3 years old do not require a ticket."

Old Dominion: "All individuals must possess a valid ticket for entry into the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Children under two (2) years old are admitted free of charge for most events, as long as they sit on a lap."

Rice: "All persons age three (3) and over must have a ticket for admission to Rice University sporting events."

Southern Miss: "Infants (under 2 years of age) in arms are admitted free with the understanding that they sit in a parent's lap and do not occupy a seat."

UAB: "All persons regardless of age must have a ticket."

UTEP: "Children two years old or younger are admitted free (child must sit on lap of ticket patron accompanying the child)."

UTSA: "Ages three and up need a ticket for admission, but ages two and below do not require a ticket if they are able to sit on a lap."

WKU: "Everyone age three (3) years and older must have a ticket to enter any WKU Athletic Stadium and E.A. Diddle Arena."

Old Dominion is the ONLY school aside from UAB in the entire conference that is not explicit in allowing infants free admission, and their policy is a lot more open than UAB's is.

This. This is the info I sought out when I was first told about this back in the spring. This alone should have made them at least consider a change at the time, but it didn't. There is no reason we shouldn't have a similar policy.

It's pretty clear that the administration is going to squeeze every nickel out of the fanbase that they can. When FRW brought back football he basically said "it's back, now pay for it."

This is just another example of that. And it won't be the last.

Strange considering another reason they brought it back was they lost their ass in the Campaign For UAB during that timeframe.
