Just so we don't have a replay of this, from a season-opener some years ago...

Though here is a video (I guess from the opener in 2012) that is pretty awesome...

I was at this game. Luckily he survived the fall from 20 ft or so.

I agree... It actually looks like his chute re-inflates just before he hits ground, probably slowing him just slightly. But yeah, it could have been really bad.

On another note, I remember (I think it was the next season) where a sky-diver in a Duke Blue-Devil outfit jumped out of a plane with the game-ball in rather murky weather...and he landed at the wrong stadium (I think he landed in NC State's stadium, if memory serves). Nothing like getting ready to start your season when a rival's mascot comes swooping into the stadium unexpectedly. On the other hand, you'd have to wonder what the people sitting around in neighboring Raleigh were thinking, wondering what had gone wrong and where was their mascot?

I sure we will have 35,000+ but they won't all show up until half way through the second quarter and half of them will be gone by the end of the third quarter. I'm planing to be there for kick-off and won't leave until the "fat lady sings!"

Oops. Was that politically incorrect?

Nah- I assume the reference was to Kate Smith, who was both female and large (obese).

I always thought it was in reference to that Helga lady in the Viking operas, wearing the helmet with the horns.

Don't ANYONE claim political incorrectness on that one. I'm mostly Scandinavian.
