What the hell is the Daily Wire?

Also, Acosta is a damn good reporter. We should be proud he is a Duke.

Acosta is a great reporter. You don't get the WH gig if you aren't.

RE: National U - Not all Press is Good Press
If that was a legitimate news website (which it isn't) that published an unbiased story (which it isn't) on Acosta, then I'd be a bit more embarrassed. It's a conservative website, so the fact that they don't feel good about Acosta is absolutely no surprise.
I had no idea Acosta is a JMU Grad. While he has asked some very bad questions (and some have been pretty bad), I've always appreciated him not being afraid to ask questions and put himself out there as the "fake news" representative at the White House.
Good news articles actually start with the subject as its main focus, and this article did not. It took the 3rd paragraph to finally start talking about the subject of the article. That, my friends, is terrible writing.

Daily Wire lol. Come on people. Be proud Acosta is an alum. Don't be embarrassed because some blog writes a trash article about one of the top political correspondents in the country...

Hburg please remove this fake news crap off this board. The complete inability of many posters to not talk about politics is exhausting and pointless.

How did the acceptance rate go from 30% in 1986 to 73%% today?

Uhh..this is not a politics thread - its bad press for JMU, so worth sharing...

and we got slammed in the comparison to uva and wm ... on a relevant topic...man, i watch msnbc for other perspectives , even though im libertarian (despite their clear bias)...dont be so easily offended

I hate that JMU got trashed in that piece, luckily its not a popular site - and no chance the author has been to our fine U!

Growth and a change in the way students apply to schools.

As for Acosta and the article...it was a poorly written and conceived piece. As much as I like Acosta, he has developed too much of a hard on for Trump. But that's no different than this author who makes a ridiculous connection between ajournalists tweet and 25th percentile sat scores at journalists alma mater. My guess is he went to an, ur or uva.

I was trying to figure out which thread to post this in, but since most threads are completely high-jacked from the titled topic, ( the TV thread is talking about Kenny's departure), I figured why not put this one here.

JMU FOOTBALL
Source: Dukes Nearing TV Deal
By GREG MADIA
Daily News-Record
HARRISONBURG — Despite its conference failing to land a traditional television contract, James Madison may soon have one its own.
According to an athletic department source, the school continues to explore linear television options for football, and is preparing to fi nalize a full schedule
for release soon.
Last week, the Colonial Athletic Association announced an agreement with CBS Sports Digital. The CAA’s deal with CBS Sports Digital runs for the next two years and allows for the network to showcase a Game of the Week.
JMU’s Oct. 14 home game against Villanova is the Dukes’ lone appearance on the Game of the Week.
“ As the schedule came out, it was frustrating for those of us at JMU to only have one game on the digital network with CBS,” JMU athletic
director Jeff Bourne said last week.
JMU also maintains its own streaming network — MadiZone — which Bourne said would continue to produce all home games aside from the Oct. 14 date against the Wildcats because CBS Sports Digital has exclusive rights to that contest.

The d-bag author went to Maryland. JMU had a better academic rep than Maryland 20+ years ago so this putz is enjoying the put-down.

He's still salty about those close calls they had against us in football... That article is literally fake news, and total horsesh*t. Why Acosta's affiliation to JMU has anything to do with his tweets I have no idea. Like Bobby said, I saw him receive an Alumni of the Year award two years ago, and he's a great speaker and person from what I can tell! One tweet definitely makes or breaks your career....right?

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it until I get a satisfactory explanation. When I was a senior in high school (1982), ANYONE who was a resident of Maryland and C student or better, could get in to UM. It was the classic "safety"/ commuter school. Somewhere along the line they made an unemcumbered commitment to improving themselves. Their progress has been impressive.
