Isn't there a poster on here who actually works in the industry (sports broadcasting) Headset guy or something? Maybe he could assist...don't mean to call him out or anything as I don't know.

Satchel

That was probably the funniest reaction I've heard from Ted Alexander for a kick ever.

Only distantly on point: one of my poker buddies, who is a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, a few years back thought about naming his new dog "Wide Right". His wife wouldn't allow it, for fear that the dog would be getting kicked regularly.

Just playing around with wix, I made a first draft of what the website could look like (obviously pictures/video/podcasts will be added as I get the content) but for now, tell me what you think? Only took me about an hour or two so it could look great once I take some photos, etc. Also, looking at the domains, and I am a little upset that the domain MonarchMadness.com is taken by a monarch butterfly enthusiast... Will have to settle with a .net :(

For the time being, the website is: https://satchelaziffer.wixsite.com/monarchmadness

Maybe you could get in touch with ODUBLEEDBLUE, He dedicated a lot of time and effort to his Blog just a year or so ago. It was ultimately too much for him considering he was also working a full time job and raising two young kids. He is a GREAT guy and had a fantastic vision and did outstanding interviews (Players, Coaches, Broderick, Wood Selig and other Bloggers from CUSA Schools. He loved Basketball and always had many other topics of interest and game recaps. His Basketball reports were always top notch as he shared his insight into Basketball and recruiting.

You might think about reaching out to Evan at 247Sport. He was looking for an inside man at ODU for Coach contacts and maybe even assistance for his pay site. If it works out maybe he can help with press credentials or give you a lead for the right people to contact for that opportunity. At one time he was looking for someone to supplement the ODU page at 247. I'm sure if you reach out to these guys they will give you some tips. It may ultimately help you and possibly Evan (247) at the same time.

AGGIE would be a good contact person and ETSUDB8-79 as well. I'm sure there are others but AGGIE and ETSU both stay in contact with a lot of what happens in football. AGGIE has done some reports in the past in regards to Practices, Spring games, Scrimmages and his analogies, reports are ALWAYS fantastic. There are many more on the boards that are very passionate about ODU and their desire to see us succeed in the future.

I could list 10 more people on the boards that I'm sure if they have the time they will help anyway they can. As always it comes down to juggling life, loved ones, priorities with the short time we have available for our love of ODU Sports. (Not trying to single out anyone, just felt this may help)

Good Luck with the Blog, look forward to supporting your endeavor in anyway we can, (I include My Uncle, Thank God for him). Nine more days and counting.

Oldtimer

Old Dominion Hail

PS reach out to Dr. Chandler another great guy that will help if he can.

Dr. Jason Chandler - Associate Athletic Director - Revenue and Strategic Marketing 683-5444 jichandl@odu.edu

Ted Alexander - Senior Associate Athletic Director - External Relations 683-3373 t2alexan@odu.edu

Bruce Stewart - Senior Associate Athletic Director - Sports Administration 683-3714 bstewart@odu.edu

Thanks! I love the inside information.
One suggestion. Give a little more background to help us understand the moment. For example instead of, "I hated shanking that punt in Charlotte" maybe something like "when we traveled to Charlotte we were 4-4 and in the 4th quarter I shanked a punt that put the defense in a bad spot."

Great suggestions! Thank you! I think sometimes it's hard for me to remember that I not everyone can remember the bad punts as well as I can lol... they haunt me to this day! Especially my infamous 9 yarder against UTSA

Yeah, some of us have seen games since 2009 and things like our defense giving up a 4 and 29 against Towson with scant minutes left.... keeping us from CAA contention stand out over bad punts..... but don't kid yourself we all remember the duck against UTSA!! 01-lauramac2 Lol 03-lmfao

The most depressing part of that game was that, since it was indoors, there was no uncontrollable conditions, thus I probably tried too hard and thus the shanks! Similar to golf when you swing too hard! 03-weeping

I answered most of your questions and gave you a little shout out! Thanks!

I used to cheer at ODU and ran the team out of the tunnel for the 2 seasons I was on the squad. This quote:

"What's it like running out of the tunnel?

For me it was a very interesting feeling; obviously there was a whole ton of excitement and adrenaline, but there was also this looming fear of tripping and embarrassing myself in front of 20k+ people. Not even kidding."

I know all too well lol. I had to run out in front of the team with the big 10' x 10' "D" flag, and let me tell you, when it rained or there were strong winds, all you could think about was making it all the way to the end without slipping or getting pulled haha, and there were some days where it took all my strength to control the flag. But in regards to the excitement and adrenaline, I agree. I will never forget that feeling!
