1. Insurrection against the US should not be celebrated. If you want to honor the time period with statues, you recognize the victims the atrocities were committed against.
2. The article makes it clear this was not a mandate from ESPN. Meaning the announcer wanted to be reassigned.

While ESPNs left leaning views have become laugh in recent years, this story broken by Clay Travis, Fox Sports Radio Host (,has been talking about it all morning on his 6 am - 9 am show on 200 plus networks and on iHeart Radio everywhere), even the extremely liberal sports media is joining in on this laugh ESPN decision.
Click on Fox Sports Radio (fsr) on iHeart now....funny stuff.

Who gets to decide on what can be celebrated? Bill Clinton statues are going to offend people with his rape victims or his oval office sex parties. I see they are damaging the Columbus statues now too. Weak people that are offended by a dumb statue that they probably didn't know existed before this started.

Hey if you want to celebrate traitors and ignore the plight of slaves, that's your right I guess.

RE: ESPN pulls Asian announcer from Virginia game because name is Robert Lee
ESPN just opened up a pandora's box for others in the media to mock them over ANYONE's name at a game: Announcer, Player, Referee, Sponsor, etc... Heck, what if LEE Jeans wants to sponsor a game, will they be allowed to?
Will ESPN stop televising ANY event that takes place in WASHINGTON, DC or Washington State?
What if a player is named Washington, Jefferson or ANY former slave owner?
Millions have said that ESPN jumped the political correctness shark a long time ago but this move just makes them the KING of that laughable movement.

This is evaluating history in a vacuum. You know the issue is much more complex than that. But it is ok, we all have our opinions.

I see and understand your point of view. However, most understand that it is far more complicated than that.
For example, I went The Citadel. We celebrate that fact that four Citadel Cadets fired upon the "Star of the West," which was a Union resupply ship at Fort Sumter. These were the first shots of the Civil War. Fort Sumter was surrendered, without any lives being lost. The Officer that commanded Fort Sumter was Major Robert Anderson. The Officer that ordered the firing was Major Peter Stevens, Robert Anderson's student at West Point, and mentor. They also were close friends. When Robert Anderson surrendered, he and his men were offered safe passage home.
Obviously, this is just an example of how the Civil War is more complicated than how you portray it. In fact, there are thousands upon thousands of books that discuss it. If you start reading about it, I think you will find that it is significantly more complex than your posts suggests.

LOL!!!
Yeah, a young Asian Announcer who finally gets to "break thru" on ESPN Internet coverage went to ESPN's top heads and demanded he be removed from his game.
If you REALLY believe that part of ESPN's "official" statement, then there is no hope for you.
