Stay safe guys, sounds like a total mess. Sent some funds to Red Cross, all I can do from here.

Good luck to FBO and all others still in harm's way.

This situation is simply beyond words other than to say all my Owl friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We're fine and safe in Sugar Land near the mall. My neighborhood in Sienna is completely fine. The worst hit area in Sienna is past Scanlan Oaks School if you know that neighborhood (back 9 of golf course if you've ever played the golf course). Most streets there completely under water but not in people's homes I don't think. Bailiff lives in that area so I am worried his home might take on a bit of water if things get any worse. But levees are holding and rain is finally projected to lessen today - hopefully. I think we're 5 feet away from Brazos crest but that might not be a factor in additional flooding at this point. I'll try to post another update later today or tomorrow.

The Brazos is predicted to far surpass its historical high. At Richmond, it is expected to crest at approximately 59 ft on Thursday. We are currently at ~52 ft.

Crest at 59ft that's crazy, in Va were getting a coastal storm today with some rain and minor flooding like 5ft. Should blow out of here today. Feel for you Owls.

Compare that distribution to Tropical Storm Allison, which is what Harvey was being compared to before it actually dumped its rain on us. The area of Harris County that received >20 inches in that event is almost laughably small compared to Harvey.

This storm was truly immense.

Any word on how many students are still on campus or how the situation is? I imagine it's better than the neighborhood, but I can't imagine that it's objectively good. I've been worried about how they can feed everybody if all the servery kitchens are flooded.

E: Answered my own question. Four serveries are open to undergrads and essential personnel for two meals per day (regular weekend/holiday service). Student health, rec center, and Fondren are open for limited hours to Rice community only.

I think the only things that flooded at Rice were cars and parking lots.

Not only are the students still on campus, but many of the nearby off-campus folks have moved into the campus. The kitchens are not flooded and, in fact, the food trucks arrived yesterday to replenish supplies.

I went back home today even though I'm in a mandatory evacuation area. May be stupidity but there are a lot of people here and my house/neighborhood has taken on zero water. Lots of ants but no water.

Makes sense not to have classes until Tuesday. A logical restarting point.

Just got back from a day trip to Port Aransas with my extended guest from the area to assess the damage to his home.

A Pass looks like someone taped it to the barrel of a 12 gauge and pulled the trigger. And that was the clean side of the storm.

Rockport was even worse. I cannot believe that anyone sheltered in place anywhere near there.

Prayers out to the Coogs too. Sounds like their football team meeting area was flooding and the Fertitta Center also suffered major flooding.

How's HRS doing, with turf that's below grade and flooding in the parking lots?
