Phil Bennett made defensive adjustments by rushing 3 and dropping 8. Totally confused Hardison and UTEP abandoned the running game and became one dimensional.

Plus, UNT running game wore down UTEP defense.

And our defense didn't commit stupid penalties and extend UTEP drives.

Congrats to UNT for the win. Disappointing night for UTEP fans. A 1 point game at the half and only a 1 yard difference in total ydg for the game but a 3 score loss.

Best of luck to the Mean Green going forward.

Thanks. UTEP has some players. I think they will win some games this season. But, I don't think Dimel is going to lead the Miners where they want to go.

Also, I was impressed with the crowd, especially considering the long rain delay.

If you go back, stay away from Rosa's Cantina or you might die of lead poisoning.

I hear there's a hot chick named Felina that like to dance at that place.

If an average team like North Texas scored 31 points, I just can’t imagine what Oklahoma, Boise State, UTSA and UAB will do to the Miners. Congrats to the Mean Green for the win and good luck in the AAC.

Impressive crowd! That really tells you the fan base is still there and will go to the games if there’s a good product on the field. UTEP is still that very rare G5 school that’s capable of averaging 45k/10k in FB and BB. Unfortunately as I’ve said multiple times before, Dana Dimel won’t be the coach who’s going to take UTEP to the next level but I give him credit for at least recruiting FBS caliber players so the next coach will walk into a better situation than Dimel did in 2018. Senter should probably go for a coach who succeeded at the G5 level but failed in the P5. Scott Frost might be available at the end of the year.

I've watched a few UTEP games last year and also this one and at times (1st/2nd qt) UTEP looks like a team that can play at the top of the conference. Then it seems to go down hill from there and last night was no difference....

what a waste of what had to be close to 180 to 200 yards in the first 15 minutes

Some how they go from a team that is hitting passes all over the field and running hard and hitting holes. To slinging the ball 30 to 40 yards down field what seems like 60% of the time.

Yes, not sold on UTEP. The bottom of C-USA was very bad last year and UTEP took advantage. This year will be harder for the Miners as hopefully C-USA is improved as a whole.

Southern Miss' all time record vs UTEP is 8-5. UTEP has only won 1 game out of the least 6 vs Southern Miss.

Old Dominion is 2-2 all time vs UTEP.

I think they were specifically talking about last year when those 2 were UTEP wins. And I see no reason for anyone to brag about leading their series vs UTEP. That's no claim to fame.

Bennett made adjustments to the UNT defense. Once the Mean Green started dropping 8 into coverage and only rushing 3, UTEP's offense went in the tank. I think UNT's 3 man front deserves the game ball for doing a solid job of containing and pressuring UTEP'S QB. In my opinion, that really changed the momentum of the game.

Plus, UNT didn't rough the passer in the second half.

I'm not contesting your opinion of UNT being average. I personally need to see more before I'd be willing to heap some praise on them. But, UNT was playing without 4 of our receivers last night. No one can know if UNT might have put up more points if those players were available, but it is certain that Aune was working without all of his weapons. So, the 31 points seems like a solid number when you also consider it was a road game in front of a large noise crowd.

It always sucks to have some of your best players missing. UTEP was missing a starting corner and a starting LB who was their leading tackler last year. It happens.

It was the 1st game and UNT looked good in that 2nd half especially. Both teams now know to work on certain things. A shake down cruise.

Beat SMU next week while UTEP hopes to play a decent game @ Oklahoma.

OU is not the place you want to go to if you're trying to get your season back on track. I just hope UTEP comes out of that game healthy.
