Kudos to James Harden (and btw his JH-Town Weekend continues today at Tudor Fieldhouse) for announcing a new Rice Scholarship recently. The event benefits his three scholarships - I think the one named after his mother and the Lucky 13 scholarship are ones his foundation has already been funding (?) but the new Rice one was just announced.

The James Harden Scholarship, in partnership with Rice University, is dedicated to students from the Houston metropolitan area who have already received acceptance to the university. It will cover school related expenses over a four-year span for students from communities facing economic hardship. Qualified recipients will exhibit academic achievement, community leadership, and determination to make the world a better place.

The young man and his family looked truly appreciative and happy to receive this scholarship. Did anyone catch his name? As usual the sound system in Tudor leaves a lot to be desired.
