14 freakin' days. Man ... how have you tried to pass the time til kickoff?
14 days 'til kickoff.
Besides normal summertime activities, and binge reading new authors I have found, I have tried to distract this "sports-desert" with a variety of TVshows --
-- The silly "So Sharp" show on Lifetime of all places, about the U of L Ladybirds.
-- "American Ripper" on History Channel, about trying to find the link that proves that notorious serial killer H. H. Holmes was also actually Jack the Ripper. (They're building quite the circumstantial case, but I doubt that anyone could be conclusively proved to be JTR).
-- "Game of Thrones" ... never thought I would find myself so engaged in this kind of show, but it sucked me in from the beginning, and I am thoroughly enjoying it now.
-- I guess I have filled these in with a couple of random shows .. a fairly funny new sitcom on Tru Channel "I'm Sorry"; the second season of "Leah Remini: Scientology The Aftermath" show exposing the abuses of that cult; "The Lowe Files" on A&E, which is about Rob Lowe and his sons loosely investigating myths like Bigfoot, haunted places, and aliens; and a variety of things on HGTV, and History.
I can't wait to replace this with solid college football viewing. I guess there are a few games next Saturday, so technically it's only 7 days. But 14 til it really kicks off.

I get all of my work done outside so that its out of the way. My honeydo list is all done before fb season starts. SU has been so bad the last couple of years that I can wait patiently for fb season to start. Im very anxious to see what Miami does this season and hoping that Richt can put it together this season.

You and me both. A preseason ranking... not sure how I feel about that -- hope we aren't overrated

Usually "Hard Knocks" helps bridge to the start of the season, but this season has been kinda ho hum ... anyone else feel that? Maybe it'll pick up.
Tampa should be a good team to follow, and the NFC South feels pretty loaded this year, with the Falcons, and Cam Newton's Panthers and Drew Brees (with Adrian Peterson) and the Saints. But it's missing something for me. Not sure why.

Similar, although I can't really take credit for any special industriousness on my part... my honey-do list has been unusually long this Summer!

Deal
BTW, we just added a high 3 star Safety today from the Miami Area.
RE: 14 freakin' days. Man ... how have you tried to pass the time til kickoff?
Waiting for the first game for me is just like waiting for the kickoff, when I played football back in the day. It will even be hard to sleep the night before the game. Those were the days.
RE: 14 freakin' days. Man ... how have you tried to pass the time til kickoff?
As far as a sports fix, American Ninja Warriors is kind of my substitute as far as something I look forward to every week. I love the way it kicks up early in the summer and takes me right through to football season.
Two nights ago I watched the Orange Bowl again. And listening to the FSU podcasts from Tomahawk Nation.
RE: 14 freakin' days. Man ... how have you tried to pass the time til kickoff?
My favorite hockey team won the Stanley Cup. That ate up a good part of my early summer and it was glorious! I was mostly drunk for at least four or five days afterwards.
My baseball team hasn't been so successful, but there are worse ways to spend a warm summer evening than sitting in PNC Park.
That and the typical vacation/projects/etc. and truthfully it has flown by.
I'm still ready for football to start but this is the good part of having your university located in a major league city. Honestly, it's pretty awesome as a fan! I'm sure the Pitt admins would prefer to be the big fish in town but that's really their problem.
