Typically the D-Line isn't swimming the OL in that drill...all that does is open up a running lane for the RB...Think that was Moore....good move when rushing the passer...not so much when you are trying to stop the run.

oh boy...doesn't look good for our defense. And what was the DB supposed to be doing at the end of the clip? Trying to see if he can catch him from behind?

I'm only hoping the drill was that the guy with the ball could either hand it off or drop back for a pass and the DL didn't know what he would do. Otherwise, he did not play it well if it was an obvious run situation drill. Makes life a lot easier for the OL to run block. Al he has to do is make sure he doesn't get there quick enough to blow it up in the backfield.

RE: RB Nicholas Sims
The linebacker on the play - #17 - is Tyler Taafe. He is good size a LB, but too small for DE. He had his troubles last year with speed, but, he goes 100% all the time and I expect he will improve a lot this year over his sophomore season. Sims looked a lot bigger than 5'11" and 205 in that video (true freshman) He's ready for DI football. The receiver blocking on the play was Bryce Mitchell - true freshman out of Bowsher.

Okay...so you're telling me not just one, but TWO of our true freshmen made TWO of our returning starters on defense look absolutely silly??? Oh man...

Taafe gets mauled by number #85..... He had very difficult time last year getting off blocks. Looks like not much has changed.

The most recent roster I looked at to find out who it was had Mitchell as #85. Current media guide also has #85 as being Mitchell. Does look a lot bigger than 196 pounds in that video though...

Media guide also has Norwood as third team DE. At 6'0" and 247 - it will be interesting to see if he gets much playing time there. Knee issues have given him a tall hurdle to overcome.

80 Jamal Turner TE 6-6 230 Fr. Montgomery, Ala. / Carver
83 Nick Kovacs WR 6-3 200 Fr. Springboro, Ohio / Springboro
84 Darryl Richards WR 6-3 195 Sr. Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Kenston
85 Bryce Mitchell WR 6-3 196 Fr. Toledo, Ohio / Bowsher
86 Liam Allen WR 6-0 182 Sr. Toledo, Ohio / St. John's Jesuit

Youre right on , what the hell is a senior swimming in a drill like that. he should be locking out on a base block, shedding then form tackling.... unless he was told to swim which I doubt... poor coaching. That stuff is instilled in high school, done every day in high and low impact drills... football 101.. scary

I think the media guide is incorrect. I was at the scrimmage a couple weeks ago and Bryce is #80. Prett sure that Jamal Turner is #85.

I was always brought up that on a guaranteed run, you get lower and stand 'em up, or if you're taller you keep their arms inside and off of you, then either way shed to the side opposite the gap that he's shooting. Or guess the gap and bullrush that side of the blocker.

Apparently Warren is 4th or 5th on the Cinci RB depth chart.

RE: RB Nicholas Sims
Michael Warren is 4th or 5th running back ? Cincinnati plays at Michigan on September 9th. If he's that far down the depth chart, I wonder if he'll travel to Michigan? Either way, I wish him luck. He's going to be great.
