Talk about a versatile player.
He's very intelligent as well. 27 ACT.
Sounds like another Tubby guy from Memphis.
Good info FlyingTiger. Local guys had Ole Miss leading, or tied with Florida. Interesting they didn't make the final 3.
The kid got a 27 on his ACT, he's smart enough to know that Ole Miss would be a stupid choice.

Give me kiss from anywhere. If that means loading our roster with Florida and Georgia kids then I am game.
Talent level is the most important factor for scholarship offers. Nevertheless, I would enjoy an all Memphis line-up , if they were the best players possible, purely for sentimental reasons.
And every Florida and Georgia kids on the roster derserve these "D1 offers". Their offer list is proof of it
I am unsure of your point. My point is I'd like seeing Memphis kids play for the Memphis Tigers for sentimental reasons, but as a realist I recognize that we need to obtain the most talented players regardless of their location.
I think 2, maybe 3, local kids are more than enough. I tend to think kids from out of town with minimal "connections" locally tend to buy into the program and perform at a higher level. Nothing about Memphis kids, as it was awesome to see a starting 5 comprised of locals during JP era, but the team didn't seem very fluid. They worked more for themselves than for the good of the team.

Welp. I tend to think if many kids on a team are working more for themselves than for the good of all, it's the failure of the Head Coach. But I think that's always a challenge when you have talented kids who are supposed to be the 'rainmakers' for their families.
Take Will Barton, for example. He was not a local, yet he was the player who had the post season press conference confessing his 'selfcenterdness' in the tourney.

It's not rocket science to understand what his point was about stocking the team full of Memphis kids.

I just remember standing outside the Forum with a few local kids parents and ex coaches nit-picking everything but their kid's performance. Some of it was deserved, but some was just ridiculous. Having played many team sports, I would rather, and have, given up my spot for a player whom was better than myself. At some point and time you have to come to the conclusion that YOU may not be the best person in a situation for the TEAM to succeed. Local kids have too many people in their ears, and higher expectations from their immediate group than a non-local kid. Just because a kid is the best one coming from East (example only) or wherever, doesn't make him the best kid on the team.

True . And that's why I was rebutting his point with a more complex answer.
