On at least 2 occasions during last night's "Being PJ Fleck", our beloved institution was referred to as the "University of Western Michigan" by the narrator. I was stunned! How many "edit" levels must a national show go through before it airs on the Mothership (ESPN)? Still can't believe it. For goodness sake, we garnered a ton of national attention last season. Oh well, let's just hope we fare well against Southern California University!

U of WM does not trip lightly off the tongue. WMU is the way to go.

Does this mean we could refer to ourselves as "THE University of Western Michigan", or "The U" for short?

I mean, even if you're an intern putting this together, you're at ESPN. Not a high school student newspaper. You can't correctly name the schools the "star" of the show played at and then coached at?

The ESPN dude who was doing the story was in Kalamazoo. So, you literally see WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY signs no matter how you get to Waldo. Just plain stupid.

One year Doo wanted new lighter-weight jerseys because the season was starting earlier when it was still hot.

Our equipment manager, who spent a lot of time at the bar in old Schwarz's Chalet, got them with football logos on the shoulders that said UMW inside.

It was Toledo University(TU) until 1967.

Funny thing is, going down to Mt Pleasant, it wouldn't be hard to find a group of fat (drunk) CMU girls willing to sing-a-long to that, thinking they were doing their own copyrighted Chip song!
