The citizens of Memphis should be very proud of the project. It is a tremendous achievement.

My daughter works there, had lunch with her last week. A great place for young people to work.

And it's not close to being done, lots of work still going on.

Our city leaders did a good job with this.

Aren't they city leaders?

If we are an oligarchy controlled by a series of elaborate well-funded nonprofits, yes.

There is a difference between city leaders and officials of the govt. Hopefully there is some overlap and hopefully all are working towards the good of the city

But you can bet our city politicians will be out in force tomorrow to accept credit for it.

Unbelievable place. This place needs to be seen by all as an example what can be done by the right people in charge. The crowd was extremely large and traffic was at a standstill. After sitting vacant for all those years I didn't figure it would ever be developed. Someone sure proved me wrong. Just as Loeb did with The Square, someone did a remarkable job with this project.

Every Memphian should see this place, and tell me Memphis is dying, everybody is leaving Memphis, yada yada yada. It is absolutely incredible. What is just as amazing to me is the surrounding neighborhood seems to be booming with renovated houses. There was a HUGE crowd when I went.

Memphis is reinventing itself right before our eyes. If you do not get out much, stay in your beaten path, do not come into Midtown or Downtown, have not been to Broad Street or Cleveland, you will be absolutely flabbergasted when you finally get out of your bubble. This town is on FIRE with money and cool developments. Housing prices in Midtown and Downtown are increasing $75,000 to $100,000 in ONE year's time. I meet more people from out of state than from Memphis these days.

SOME of the surrounding neighborhood is booming. You sure don't want to venture down Autumn to the west near Bellevue after dark. Cleveland to the south has a way to go. The Hi Tone and a few other places are helping the area and hopefully more money will be invested since the Crosstown bldg has shown what can be done.

I have been in the Crosstown Bldg a few times over the last few weeks. If people did not get there yesterday, they missed their chance. Lots of what we saw yesterday won't be accessible to the public come Monday. Some of the areas are closed unless you work or live there. I have to have an escort into some areas.

The Concourse is proof that by working together for the common good, the impossible turns to the achievable and the achievable into done. It makes my heart sing for my hometown.

Related: I got to check out the new Next Door place in Crosstown this week for lunch. A little pricey for my normal lunch, but the food was really, really good.

South Main was not built in a day either. lol I am being told that most of the develop-able land from Crosstown to Broad Street has been bought up by developers, as have the best tracts of land between CY and Overton Square.
