^Not quite. Tubby was not asked about Clergeot and responded with a comment. He was asked to give an example of his type of player and Tubby pulled Clergeot out himself, you know the player Tubby was recruiting to Texas Tech....

RE: Keelon Lawson coming up on 92.9
I will spell it out.

It doesn't seem like a big deal, but all the little deals add up to the fact that we had a mass exodus of players from our program.

Tubby was asked a general question..."What is your kind of player?"

Instead of naming all the players still on the roster, or giving a more professional general answer, Tubby did what he did---which means he skipped over other Tiger players that were still on the fence--one of whom was Crawford.

Crawford himself said he had not been approached in any way by our head coach or the asst. coaches...as to whether he had plans to stay or go.

Crawford, you've got to let us know...Will you stay or will you go.

As for developing relationships with players, we gotta get on the ball.
Check out what Clergeot had to say after transferring to UMass.

“The relationship I have with coach McCall and the coaching staff is unbelievable. Coach McCall has been recruiting me since I was in ninth grade. I was the first guy he offered within and hour of getting the job at Chattanooga,” Clergeot said in a phone interview on Monday.

Again, a lot of nothing here.

Tubby did contact Markell, but not to the extent he expected. He expected Tubby to pull out the knee pads or something (ooh, bad visual picture). He had a place in the team and knew he was wanted. He chose to transfer. Probably a good decision and, in the end, gives our new guys more playing time.

Im sure Clergeot had great things to say about Tubby when he signed with us. After all, he chose to follow him to Memphis after committing to Texas Tech. He did average a whopping 3 points/1 rebound per game.

Coaches comment positively on their players all the time. Sometimes things don't work out, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't compliment their players just in case they transfer.

Do you know how ridiculous you sound? Not trying to be disrespectful, but man, this is just plain silly!

Tubby was late in contacting Woodson, also.

How we sound to each other is unimportant.

Your interpretation of what I said is far off the mark.

But that is also unimportant.

C - McDowell
F - Rivers
G - Markel

G - Randall

Bench
C/PF/F/G/PG - Kessee
C/PF/F/G/PG - Clergeot

That is a team that Tubby could have coached up to win a lot of games.

I seem to remember this lineup that only won 18 or 19 games and missed the tourney

F - Lawson
F- Burrell
C-'Goodwin
G- Tarrant
G- Crawford or Woodson

With Martin and Nick Marshall as subs

Maybe they ALL were overrated?

What isn't funny at all, is that despite all of Pastner's shortcomings, in his 8 years of coaching he has gone to the tournament more than Tubby, won more NCAA games than Tubby and made the tournament 4 years in a row; something Tubby hasn't done in 12 years, AND badly outcoached Tubby last year.

Isn't it sad that a coach like Pastner has managed to outperform HOF Tubby?

Well, your man-crush Josh was getting to the tourney at the benefit of mostly playing patsies in CUSA the majority of those years. It's not much of a problem if you're getting the auto-bid from the conference tournament.

Things didn't start really tanking for him until the competition got tougher in the AAC. Tubby was having to deal with the competition in the B1G and Big XII to get to the tourney. Significant difference.

But you've deflected the discussion from your original asinine statement about "saving the program".

Pastner beat 5 ranked teams when the schedule improved and 3 last year with a horrible roster, so your statement makes no sense at all. Tubby was able to make the tournament even though he hasn't been over .500 in conference in 10 years so that makes no sense at all.

I am pretty sure a smart 6 year old understands how important the Lawsons were last year, considering that we would have won less than 10 games without them and if Tubby didn't have them, we would have barely had enough players to field a team. You...not so much apparently.

Dedric and KJ did account for 43% of our scoring and 49% of our rebounding. I'm sure Rykhoek and McDowell could have picked up the slack or as another poster suggested; if they weren't on the team, Tubby could have recruited two players just as good. That was hilarious.

Perhaps you should find a smart 6 year old to post for you, because it would be an upgrade. I ran your post past a smart one and he looked at me and said "what's with that guy?" As he wandered off I heard him mutter something about dumb people on the internet....

Honest question about Markel. Why do you feel as though the coaching staff handled his situation so poorly when Markel was the one that no-showed for the offseason workouts? Why is he not to blame and only the coaching staff?

The coaching staff is getting paid.

List the stuff Tubby did to earn his keep, instead of making excuses why he couldn't.

I think you are missing the point, and you didn't answer the question. At some point in life, we all have to grow up and take responsibility for our actions. Do I wish Markel was still on the roster? Absolutely, but I can understand why the staff handled it the way they did. Doesn't mean I don't wish it would've played out differently, and I'm sure both sides probably feel the same way.

You have no idea how I feel about Tubby, yet you lump me in as a Tubby defender with your last comment.

It's partly my fault, 450. Started the thread when I saw the tweet that Keelon was hopping on 92.9. Figured we'd goof on it for a couple of hours, and then the thread would die.

But 8 days later, like the monster in a bad horror movie, the thread lives.

You lumped yourself.

Unless you are coach, how would you know what Markel did? And if he did skip practice, what events lead up to this breach of team rules? But whether it was an accurate statement or not, you've put doubt in people's head or added to the doubt already there...lol.

It all boils down to this. It's the Coach's job to ferret these things out and motivate his team--not just to coach them up.

Maybe Crawford couldn't be coached up and so he was moved on...?

See how easy it is to put doubt in people's heads.

Nope, didn't lump myself at all. It was reported that he no-showed. I was just asking your take on it since virtually every response you have had in regards to our program has thrown all blame on the coach and not the players. I have never said the coaching staff was blameless. Clearly my mistake for thinking that would promote a thoughtful reply.

You are 0-fer on your assumptions thus far.

Losing four top hundred players, Woodson, and "his type of player" is bad. Failure to replace them with similarly talented, experienced, and skilled players is worse.
