Dukes at nats park
Anyone there? What was the turnout?

Looks online like a good bit of purple in the crowd

Curt Dudley's facebook page reported that all of the left field pavilion area seats reserved for JMU were sold out, more added, and they sold out too. I think that represented over 2k fans right there, and there more all around the stadium based on other fb pics

The announcers called out the JMU presence at the ballpark:

Dukes at nats park
I saw a good amount of fans throughout all evening. I sat closer to home plate and it didn't look like that much purple in the outfield but it's possible that it blended in with the dark blue seats.
Additionally, I think a lot of JMU fans wore their nats red and just wore the purple JMU hat they got. That's what I saw a lot of people doing.
It was mainly pre-game mentions and they played our fight song after the 2nd. That was about it.
I happened to go to the uva day back in June and they did the exact same things.
It's great to get an acknowledgement and day from the nats organization really. Nothing beats seeing your logo all over the big screen and ribbon boards.

Saw a picture of a recent Duke posing with the national championship trophy at Nat's Park last night.

Streamers after the first Nats run would have been a nice touch.

Gio threw a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings and the nats won 3-1 vs the angels. It was a good night.

100% agreed. Thought the same thing when JMU Night was held at the Richmond Flying Squirrels game earlier in the summer--missed opportunity.

We have such a cool, unique tradition with the streamers but yet I feel like we don't always take full advantage of showing it off outside of home football games and graduation.

While an awesome idea, I don't think either venue would have appreciated the cleanup associated with it. That being said, fans could have brought streamers if they could get them through the gates!

Fair enough. Although I do think it would have been easier to pull off with a little coordination/permission in Richmond, given their GM, Parney, seems to be all about that kind of stuff.

But as Trippster alluded to--can't hurt to execute and ask for forgiveness later!

They should have allowed him in the race with a POTUS #4 jersey. That would have been sweet!

RE: Dukes at nats park
I was there and I wore purple but lots of JMU fans were not in purple as many wore Nats red and many wore no red or purple. Lots of folks chose the white hat option and they stood out and were more visible than the purple ones. I was impressed with the overall turnout. I really enjoyed the evening surrounded by JMU folks.

Yeah, the special JMU tickets definitely sold out. I tried a few times throughout the week to get them and couldn't. Well done Dukes!
