Was at that game with another prominent mt.org poster. We had seats lower level, right next to their student section.

Very late in the game, with us down 1 (I think), Arky player was at the free throw line. The place was dead silent. Just as he was about to release the free throw, I bellowed out the loudest sound possible (and I'm darn loud). Dude clanked the free throw. Tigers go down and score to take the lead and pull out the win.

Thought we might get killed by the Piggy fans. Good times.

I grew up in Arkansas and he was a legend. Bigger than life. Maybe just under Elvis and Gov Faubus.

That's why decades later I was shocked to hear Wolo describe Broyles' behavior at that basketball game.

Don't forget, he "gave us" Keith Lee.

And, if I recall...we watched the replay the next day and you could see the Arky player flinch (and hear my primal scream in the background), on that free throw.

Am I dreaming that part?

Actually, I think it's your buddies down in the grove, eating Wal-Mart chicken off of grandma's china, that give us that moniker.

Yelling at an opposing guy at the FT line? You're trying too hard on this one.

RE: Frank Broyles - Arkansas Legend - Has Passed Away at Age 92. RIP.
When I think of Broyles, I think of 3 things:
Ending the football series after they finally got a win against us.
The fight and racial lawsuit with Nolan.
The on-air radio cursing at the Tigers basketball game.

Not a warm, fuzzy teddy bear reputation to Tigers fans - or anyone outside of Arkinsaw fans. Not sure why we have multiple threads - or even why I'm commenting on him.
