Another player with Coach Shafer/Lester approval at SU

He committed to Cuse and decommitted from Cuse and committed to LSU after Coach Babers thought he wouldn't work as a QB in his system at Cuse.

Hmmmm. Something makes me think there is more to the story than what is meeting the eye. If he may be interested in WMU we might want to look the gift horse in the mouth.

The only connection is Coach Lester liked him while at Cuse and the kid committed to Cuse (Lester)...Coach Lester is obviously deep into training camp...one of you guys might reach out to a staff member to investigate. The kid might go JUCO...but you can still stay in touch. He could be eligible to be a 3 for 3 JUCO player. He might have enough credits to grad and move to WMU after one year in JUCO.

This kid was the Gatorade Player of the Year in LA. He had a prolific QB career in high school down there. If he reaches out to Lester, coach is picking up the phone. Not one coach in the country is gonna turn down talent, especially at the most important position on the field because they like the guy they got.

The guy they got now has never thrown a ball in college, but he's so good that you don't want to consider an LSU transfer?

Are you Wassink's relative or something?

Hard to crack into a QB gig these days in FBS at 5'11", and that measurement seems generous in his case. I've seen him also listed at 5'10". That probably has something to do with the apprehension here, and doesn't seem like he's too keen on switching positions, which may or may not have been an option for him at LSU when he saw his place on their depth chart. But yeah I'm sure that will be discussed if he gets in contact with the WMU staff again. If he wants to come here though, he's more than welcome to compete for the QB job with the other 3-star guys we currently have and best of luck to him!

I suspect there is instinctive suspicion whenever a kid, especially a very talented kid, just decides to transfer from his school when he has lots of eligibility left. Why does he want out? His statement seems right out of the new college athlete social media handbook, and seemingly lacks sincere openness (or good sentence structure).

Hey, don't get me wrong. If a super talented kid might be interested in coming here, I think we should listen. WMU is a long way from both LA, and Baton Rouge Louisiana. How are his grades? I just think if he does say he wants to come here we aught to kick the tires first.

He had a Harvard offer out of high school, so don't suspect grades will ever be an issue.

Maybe that's it. The reason he wants to transfer out of the SEC. He is uncomfortable being the only one on the team who can read.

I love it when we all work through these issues and figure it out. This is going to be a great season.

The player needs to make the first contact not WMU coaching staff.
