Fall camps?
How's it going for everyone?

We've come through 2 scrimmages without significant injury. From what I hear the offensive line looks like they're coming together. Still some questions regarding our secondary. D line looks good again. Skill folks are all good and the O looks more in sync than they did this time last year. One plus I keep reading about is that we have a kicking game!

Taking to a lot of people, and while it may take a couple of games for all the pieces to come together, when they do they feel this team will have a chance to be the best team ever at A-State. In fact many are certain it will be the best team ever.

Fall camps?
It’s probably the best overall we’ve looked in a camp since BA has been here.

Hopefully it translates.

RE: Fall camps?
We look like a team coached by people that know option offenses and not coaches that think it's a gimmick that needs to be modified.

I will put our DBs talent wise up against not only anyone in the league, but the G5. Doesn't mean they'll be a great unit, though.

Team overall is really talented and young.

I decided to put together a list of players on their roster that are flying under the radar going into 2017 for another site. Thought it would be a handful, and it got very long in a hurry, and i had to cut it off.

I mean you have almost a SBC Championship caliber team, loaded with 3* types struggling to even get a glimpse of the field in 2017.

Totally amazing, and that is what these people are seeing when they watch this team.

I think we can all agree that talent is only one part of the equation. Back on topic. How is fall camp going for everyone?

We haven't lost half of our roster to season ending injuries yet, so that's a good thing.

From what I've heard, our New S&C coach is awesome. Some guys have added 20 lbs without sacrificing athleticism and speed. We finally have depth at every position, which we've never had before. This will likely be our best team we've ever had, but it will also be our toughest schedule.

Uhh . . . 1975 happened and it was real. Go count the NFL dudes on that team.

Yep, they were and the best A-State team ever IMO, but most of the people I have talked to that have been watching this team probably never saw them. Think I saw a ranking a few years ago using the BCS computer rankings that said they were either the 3rd or 6th best team ever from Arkansas.

I do agree this team has a better roster of talent.

While I do think A-State will have the most talented team in 10 of their games, I have predicted them finishing with 8-9 wins.

I'm assuming Anderson is a better OC/QB coach than he was a HC, but that is not asking a lot.

App is looking very weak. No talent. No discipline. It will be a long year. Ya'll don't even worry about us.

They don't have to be good. They avoid the tough games.

They are probably the third most talented team in the SBC at best, and that is probably a little high. Well coached though.

Yep. Thank goodness we don't play anyone this year.

That is the truth.

I take back my previous post 247 had them with the 7th best roster of talent going into 2016, and I doubt they moved up 4 spots over the summer.

http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Footbal...erence=SBC

They are really not that talented, they just got their bluff in, and no one has called it. Well after losing to the 17 point underdogs at their place the Red Wolves did. Embarrassing as losing to 17 point underdog UCA, and the reason their HC is now the OC/QB coach.

RE: Fall camps?
Troy is looking very good. The WR position is insanely talented and deep. The 6'4" JUCO WR Damion Willis appears to be the stand-out thus far. DB's have a chance to be the best unit in Troy history. Linebackers are bigger and faster than last year, but could still use a little work. Brandon Silvers appears to be sharper than last season. Troy has found a place-kicker that appears to be good so far, but he's unproven in actual games.

Overall, Neal Brown seems to be very pleased. I believe Troy will begin prepping for Boise State sooner than usual. You can tell that Brown and the players want to make a statement on September 2.

Funny how the S&C guys have become so integral to the well being of a program.

Who would have ever thought the second highest paid S&C coach in the country would be at A-State?

I figure the rest of the conference would be happy with you making a statement as well. From everything I'm reading regarding our conference it's going to be a very good year across the board.

The downside to that is that we end up beating each other up and unless someone rises to the occasion the chances of another Top 25 team or an Access Bowl are slim.
