Not only is he getting interest from bigger programs now, but he recently was suspended for a couple of games I think it was for receiving multiple technical fouls. He's obviously very talented and he could be a difference maker to Rowe's roster (and by golly we need all of those we can get), but unsure if he'll bring some unwanted baggage and be a bad investment in the long run.

Alanzo Frink still remains a very intriguing prospect. He too I believe did not sign in November with the likely thought that he will also receive attention from some bigger programs. I still think JMU has a chance. At 6'8", his size is desperately needed...along with his skill set of course. Even if he is a more perimeter-oriented player, at 6'8" he can defend, rebound and bang in the paint most likely.

Regardless, Rowe definitely needs at least one power forward type in this spring's signing period (or transfer too).

Guess seems to be aiming for a high major. He recently visited West Virginia. While he is very talented he kind of has a similar build to Banks so I'm not sure JMU really needs him. Maybe if WVU doesn't offer Huggy bear will put a good word in and steer him back JMU's way (Rob Summers is a WVU grad and close to Huggins).

I agree that I'd rather see Frink and another ball handling guard. Aside from the great story that this young man Butler has another guard that JMU is recruiting Isaac Suffren is visiting Columbia this weekend. Either kid look like they would be good additions in the class room and from a leadership standpoint.

Looks like they play a tough non-conference schedule to prep for 8A

Only Hofstra & Navy are after this recruit right now, but from following his twitter mentions he is a high scoring PG against tough competition.

Another mention for this 2018 PG target : http://www.hoopseen.com/node/4427

Just saw on VC, we have offered 6'5" combo guard, Connor Crabtree. Looks very promising. From Hillborough NC, currently at Hargrave.

His twitter: https://twitter.com/C_crab5

Highlight reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klyBwB0I...e=youtu.be

Being looked at by Tulane, Wofford, among others... https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/connor-crabtree

Looks like he'd be a great addition to the Good Guys if Rowe and staff can get him.

Connor...come on, up!!

If we can sign a true point guard and find someone who can shoot a high percentage of shots from behind the 3pt line then we should be set for next season.

I say no chance. Marquette & UVA are looking at him, plus plenty of other offers on hand. Plus he signed to UNC-Asheville out of HS but decided to go to Hargrave to better his game in hopes of getting better offers.

Yahel Hill a 5'9 PG out of Ohio was removed from 2018 JMU target list. Appears he wants to head to a MAC program

https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/yahel-hill

Staff only has 2 PG's targeted for 2018 along with the LOI.

See how this all shakes out...

Only shows Wagner as other competitor at the moment at that site. Take it FWIW.

Johnson: https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/tariq-johnson

He graduated from Kent Island HS on the Eastern Shore of MD in 2017, so he's in a prep school program.

Their website claims a number of DI players: http://mtzionprep.com/alumni/

A couple of their coaches are connected to the Under Armour AAU teams. It's good to see this JMU staff working the various recruiting avenues

Taking a visit to JMU today...https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/tariq-johnson

Tariq Johnson a 6'5" SG is visiting JMU this weekend. His verbal commits profile shows an offer from JMU and Wagner however he has additional offers and interest. Johnson is playing a post grad year at Mt Zion - a prep school in Baltimore. Coincidentally Tyler Foster the ex GTown commit and JMU target at one time last year is playing at Mt. Zion as well. Here's are a couple of articles on Johnson.

Nice to see us involved at Hargrave. The fact that Marquette and UVA are interested shows that this is a kid who can really shoot it. He would be a big get for JMU- maybe he'll prefer competing to start right away vs. being a rotation guy as an upper classmen in those programs.

JMU coaches are supposed to be by to visit PG target Ephraim Butler today in NC. Butler takes an unofficial visit to Wofford on Saturday. Wofford is a solid program- they beat UNC earlier this year. I was reading an article about one of their players Macgee and how he willed himself into one of the best shooters percentage wise in history.

RE: 2018 Mens Hoops Recruiting
I think the Dukes are one active post player away from being really good over the next 2-3 years (regardless of who might or might not be coaching). I think to myself - and, I know this applies to a lot of teams not just us - how good would this Dukes team be right now with a Cacok or half of a Cacok on the floor for 30 minutes each game. We are in great shape next year at the perimeter positions. Mosley is very good. Lewis is too. And Banks just needs to show more consistency, but I think he'll be very good as a soph. Wilson needs to get in better shape but I like his game. We really need Jacobs to step up and if we could get a 6'8" type of guy to compete for a starting role at the 4 position, we are set. This is why I'm still holding out some hope for Frink to come down to JMU. I think he would be a potential starter and at minimum get 20 mpg off the bench.

The future is bright and getting brighter.
