2 stars.

Depending on the service a couple of open recruits- Alanzo Frink PF and Christian Guess SF are 3 stars.

JMU has also expressed interest in a 6' 4" SG from NC in recent days, Isaac Suffren. Elon, Ohio, Cornell and Brown are also showing interest. I don't think that JMU has offered him yet.

RE: 2018 Mens Hoops Recruiting
Speaking of Frink and Guess, I assume they are going to roll the dice over the winter hoping they garner interest from other (bigger?) programs. This leads me to believe JMU is a fall-back plan in case that doesn't come through. Just my view at this point. Could be way off base. And, can't really blame them. I think the JMU offer stands if they want it...though, it is recruiting and I am sure Rowe and staff and working more guys and that offer may not stand until April if another guy or two commits to the Good Guys.

JMU offered a Juco PG today- Tobias or TJ Howard. Howard played last season at Western Kentucky. Towson and others have offered out of Juco and he had about 20 offers out of high school. Probably the staff acknowledging that they need a veteran PG for next season to go with their other guards.

He was a 3-star coming out of prep school. Appears he left because of the coach change at WKU, but he did see a good amount of time on the floor for the Hilltoppers his Freshman year

I'd just be happy w/ ANY true point guard regardless of age. Year in and year out we have this problem. Give me great ball distribution skills, solid D and 6 points a game. Don't feel I'm asking too much that we have just one guy on the roster to do that for us. Can't even remember the last time we had a PG who averaged 5 assists per game (and that's not even setting a high bar).

VC site said that he updated his status level on 11-20-17....if you connect to him, he was offered on 10-20-17. Parker committed shortly thereafter. They've got six guards on the roster right now for next season with two openings.

Article on Parker in DNR -- he says he's a pass first PG and Rowe wants him to be the true PG for the team next year.

Yup. Ron Curry was a great player, but the only true point guard we have in the last 15 years was Devon and lo and behold, his senior year we go to the tournament. Also, his three healthy years were the three years we actually made strides (year one- first winning record in years, year two- top 25 votes, 3rd healthy year-the ncaa's).

RE: 2018 Mens Hoops Recruiting
Not sure if anyone noticed by Jeff Lebo stepped down a couple of days ago as coach at ECU. BTW UNCW looks real down this year- they lost last night to a weak ECU squad in OT. I wonder if UNCW's program is due for a down cycle.

I mention Lebo on this thread because two of their 2018 signees were once offered by JMU- Michael Wynn a SG and Jayden Gardner a PF. Both at 2 star rated but pretty highly regarded in recruiting circles as guys who are supposed to be immediate contributors at the AAC level. I wonder if they will ask for their release with the coaching change.

RE: 2018 Mens Hoops Recruiting
verbalcommits.com has added that we offered 2018 prospect, Tariq Johnson, listed there as a 6'5" shooting guard from Mt. Zion Prep School and hails from Baltimore.

Only shows Wagner as other competitor at the moment at that site. Take it FWIW.

He graduated from Kent Island HS on the Eastern Shore of MD in 2017, so he's in a prep school program.

Their website claims a number of DI players: http://mtzionprep.com/alumni/

A couple of their coaches are connected to the Under Armour AAU teams. It's good to see this JMU staff working the various recruiting avenues

History tells us that building a program with JUCO's is not a good idea

Why would JMU you be competing with Wagner for players?

Fork Union is a post grad school (like Oak Hill, Hargrave, etc.) not a Juco. This recruit would come to JMU in 2018 as a class of 2022 Freshman. Years ago JMU out recruited Richmond for a PG from Fork Union named James Pelham. Pelham never really panned out as a lead guard but it's a program that generally produces some pretty good D1 talent.
