RE: Guess attendance for Boston College
I'm bringing at least 19; all but three did not go to NIU and do not typically attend the games. However, they are all extremely excited about tailgating and the game. Every effort helps grow our fan base.

I transferred in from Purdue, the Purdue that went 9-39 in the last 4 years, and constantly saw lots of ads and boilermaker promos everywhere on campus. Coming to NIU was a shock. I've seen frats with bare minimum budgets put on better recruitment events than athletics could promote football games. Like how hard is it to wrap a bus in an Athletics livery or put up a couple banners above sidewalks? Let's hope they can figure this out soon.

RE: Guess attendance for Boston College
I had planned to drive up from Ohio and have my daughter and granddaughters drive down from Madison, Wisconsin to attend the game. However we cancelled our plans after learning of the very late start time. The granddaughters 3 and 6 and we would need to drive to Madison after the game.

I do hope that the game is well attended and that attendance is up this season. I will make it to at least one game on campus this season.

I think this is a pretty good guess, Ill go with 12,864

I think this is the first year we are going to start to realize the dent in season ticket sales from people not renewing just from not having any games October and beyond to go to.

ticket sold or bodies at the game? My 4 tix will be unused for this game.

The late game start time will affect fans living a distance from DeKalb. Because I don't feel like driving home 90 miles at midnight (or later in the case of OT), we are staying overnight in DeKalb. Of course, this adds costs that could cause some people from afar to not attend. This factor alone could affect attendance. That's why they are wise to court the local fans in this case.

And if the game starts earlier people will complain they can't get to DeKalb from the city during rush hour in time to make it. Friday's are a fail no matter how you look at it.

16,995. I will not be attending due to long-standing plans for Labor Day weekend. In fact, I did not get season tickets this year because of the horrible schedule with only 2 Saturday games. Students, as long as I can remember, bail out of DeKalb on Thursday night or Friday afternoon to get back home for the weekend. I always stayed on campus so I could enjoy my time free of supervision. :)

Students bail out on Saturday. Thursday and Friday nights were always busy at the bars. Saturday? Not so much. It's the first weekend back. Not many kids want to go back home to mommy that early lol.

You apparently haven't been in DeKalb on Friday afternoons when cars are lined up on Annie Glidden waiting to get on I-88.

You obviously haven't been to a high school football game recently.
No. 1, none of them ever start on time.
No. 2, no one is going to leave Mundelein Carmel at DeKalb and say "let's see if we can find a parking spot and catch the last quarter of the NIU game." And nobody coming home from Sycamore at Grayslake North (7:15 p.m.) or Kaneland at Geneva (7 p.m.) will "swing by Huskie Stadium."
No. 3., best case scenario is those high school fans get home just in the nick of time and some have access to CBSSN or hear that the Huskies beat an ACC team. Then they get the urge to show up for EIU because it's one of the only two Saturday chances all autumn to see a home game.

Great weather, name opponents, non-midweek games - all at a premium these days.

No one that has been to Huskie Stadium in the last 10 years is going to say "let's see if we can find a parking spot"

but yes I agree with the rest...
