UTSA women’s basketball coach fired/let go
Interesting timing for them to let him go unless there’s more to the story

Probably the closest to class that was associated with that athletic program. They were gonna be good this year.

They must have had somebody already in mind for the position cuz they just announced the new head coach. Bunch of politics. Also, who cares.

Coach Luby is a good man and a great basketball mind, but he underperformed as a head coach. Still, I will miss his presence around the program.

Not exactly. New coach was previously the associate head coach. She may end up being a good choice, but that's not a wide net we cast.

Hearing it was a health related issue. He had not been out in the recent recruiting period and wasn't at the conf meeting earlier

Did the press release say it was health-related?

The season ended on 08th March. Hard to believe they needed five months (11th August) to decide if they wanted him back or not.

If UTSA and Lichonczak both want this to stay private, I'm fine with that. But there's obviously more to this than meets the eye.

Tons of respect for Tolkien and his works, but I just never got that interested in LOTR

Just out of curiosity what was his contract situation? The reason I ask is twice USM saw its head softball coach leave around this time and in both situations to my knowledge it was the 4th, and final, year of their original contract (Mississippi state law caps all contracts at 4 years). The 1st head coach that left (Dobson) didn't want to go into the final season with lame duck status and I'm assuming that was the same with the husband/wife co-head coaches that did if following Dobson after their 3rd full season
