I don't understand why Purdue went for Memphis of all teams. They could have gone for a weaker opponent and raised their bowl chances.

Guess they want to see if they can beat us at something. The basketball hasn't worked out real well for them against us.

The new Purdue coach was just on TV yesterday talking about how he wants to play better OOC teams...he got his wish.

Ok stud. Name them. Who is getting $1.5 Mil from a lesser than Purdue P5 school?

A. Nevada is getting $1.3 million from Northwestern this year.
B. UNLV is getting $1.2 million from Northwestern in 2019.
C. Texas st is getting $1.2 million from Rutgers in 2018
D. MTSU is getting $1.5 milion from Ole Misx in 2020

None of those qualify from your original statement:

1. Double $ (That means $1.5 mil) - That eliminates A, B, and C.
2. Lesser than Purdue P5 school - That eliminates D.

Again, this is from your original claim. Care to try again?

As a Memphis fan I am embarrassed with this deal. First of all there should not be a 1 and done with freakin Purdue and second, there is no way to justify only getting 750k. We have home and home with ole miss which pays 1.5m to mtsu and we are accepting half that to go to Purdue. Several of my memphis brethren that are defending this with easy money and win forget that just a few years ago Memphis was not as good as Purdue and the fortunes can change pretty quickly.
My 2 cents.

Then go be embarrassed while we go cash that check.

Purdue might not contend for the Big 10 title, but they will not be a push over anymore, Memphis got man handled by a Jeff Brohm team last year with out Jeff Brohm even coaching in the game. He will get better talent than he got at WKU more than likey

Purdue is a long term rebuilding job...WKU has nothing to do with Purdue...run along now.

WKU dont have anything to do with Purdue , your correct.... but you cant ignore the fact how successful Jeff brohm was while at WKU. I have no ill will against Memphis, just stating that the game might not be the cupcake some may think it will be. I think Brohm should have held out for a bigger coaching job, I think he is better than Purdue deserved

The other g4 have 1 and done minimums (most over a million), from a financial standpoint getting AAC one and done is the target as we have no minimums as it isnt a large commonality

athletically you dont plan 3 years in the future thinking you are going to suck..if you are planning 3years+ aac teams are ideal, there is some respect in beating us, unlike most g4.. they probably of the assumption theyll be good enough to beat memphis by then...

this deal makes perfect sense for purdue..
its memphis that i dont get?

if you are going to do a 1 and done why purdue?? they are only paying 750k, you dont get a return game, and its purdue..is not like scheduling purdue in a 1 and 1 is impossible...its not like its an emergency cancellation this is 3 years in advance

I will withhold opinion until 2020.

if we win, it was a good deal...if we lose, it was a bad deal.

Pesik, the AD is not wanting to schedule beyond 2023 and had a hole to fill. He wanted a beatable P5 to fill that slot, and Purdue fit that bill.

ETA: He may be drinking the AAC kool-aid, but feels 1P5, 2G5, and one FCS is enough to move the program ahead.

if the last game you add in 2020 is an fcs, you won't get much credit if you're good
