This season seems perfect for a USF choke job. Get to #2 in the country and then lose every game.

They need to be really highly ranked going into the Tulsa game late in the season. Then the Florida fruit will be ripe for the picking.

Ah yes.
That L to Rutgers followed by...
an L to UCONN followed by...
an L to Cincinnati followed by...
no more ranking.

Because they won 5 games last year.
And they haven't played good defense.
And on paper, they are not as good as USF, UCF, Houston, Memphis and Navy, at least, and maybe not Tulsa. Maybe more.

As long as we continue to dominate hoops, who cares? We are a basketball school in Texas. I love it.

Because defense wins championships. Exhibit A: Temple 2016.

Because it takes more than a QB (whose quality is still unknown), an elite WR, and a stable of RB's to be succesful. The Miami Dolphins never won a Super Bowl with Dan Marino despite is being one of the best QB's of the time and having some of the best receivers (more than one) of that era.
How good is your O-Line? You can have the best QB, the 4 best receivers, and the two best RB's in the conference and still not have a good offense if the O-Line isn't good.
How good is your defense? UCF won the Fiesta Bow over Baylor on the strength of the defense that held Baylor below their scoring average for the year. Our defense hit Baylor in the mouth at the beginning of the game and stayed strong enough through the rest of the game to secure the win.

I'm a lifelong die hard Chiefs fan. I know all bout having a few GREAT players and crap everywhere else. We introduced Sabby Piscatelli to the world for **** sake.
I also know that the college game is the Mecca of system players. Really, I'm trying to gauge how good SMUs system is.

Our talent ranks even with the top of the AAC in every position now except Linebacker. Unfortunately when you play Navy - plus the Memphis and Houston of the world who runs the QB a ton - that is a tough position to be short on.
If the defense gets a few stops we will surprise some folks - cause O is going to score a ton of points. Get ready for some basketball scores.
Bottom line - I think SMU will do better than expected since there is not much knowledge about our depth and our transfer help.

We ran a lot with Lynch. Ferguson, not so much, and when he does run, he usually gets caught.
But our O should be beyond awesome this season. Almost everybody is back. It's the D we'll have to see about.
