Spoken like a true Snowflake. Who gets to be the judge of which elder you respect and which one you slap around? The kid? Welcome to reverse bizarro society where the child screams at the parent while he OR she helicopters above dropping glitter and gummy bears down below while praying for forgiveness. Nothing wrong with that at all...

T

...03-cool

The "kids" putting their bodies on their line? Yeah they can advocate for whatever they want to. That's their business.

lol and why do you get to determine who deserves respect or not?

I don't, logic and probabilities do. There's a higher probability that an older human knows what the **** they are talking about more often than not. There are very, very few children born with wisdom, while even the average old bum on the street can teach you something.

The order of every assemblage of intelligent life is ranked based on maturity... within reason.

T

...03-cool

This is just dumb. Logically, half of ALL humans are stupider than the average human. That statistic doesn't change a whole lot with age. There are a lot of incredibly dumb old people and there are a lot of incredibly smart ones. Your age doesn't have any effect on how respected you should be past adolescence. That's based on your character. Nothing else. Mangino was determined to be a low character guy. Same with Art Briles.

The amount of battles you've won doesn't mean you should be respected as a person for anything beyond winning battles.

"Logically, half of ALL humans are stupider than the average human. That statistic doesn't change a whole lot with age. There are a lot of incredibly dumb old people and there are a lot of incredibly smart ones. Your age doesn't have any effect on how respected you should be past adolescence."

Wow. Just wow. Case-in-point for why we are in the shape we're in. I'm guessing you are between 21 and 26 years old?

Being "stupider" and not having wisdom/experience are two very different things. The speed in which you can process data in your brain has little bearing on how much knowledge you can acquire just from being on earth and making more mistakes than the other guy. Learning from your mistakes is one of the greatest examples of maturity there is and one of the most effect ways to gain wisdom.

T

...03-cool

If you're too dumb to actually learn from your mistakes you don't gain much wisdom. And there are a lot of older people that have that problem. Also, you're saying that wisdom in a couple of areas makes you a respectable person. I bet there are some really quality aged car mechanics that come home and beat their kids. Experience doesn't always merit respect outside of the limited things you have experience in. You could be the best retiring pilot in the world and be a racist and I wouldn't respect you.

Case in point: Hitler was 56 when he died. Was he a respectable person? Stalin was 74. How about him?

I always assumed you were a millennial. Didn't expect "Hood-rich" and a ninja turtle to belong to a guy in his 40's(or 50's?.....70's?)

Barely made the cut. I think 1980 is the rough cutoff. I'm 34, so can't run from it.

I guess I relate to the millennial:

Con: I'm attached to my phone
Pro: I'm not in debt up to my eyeballs

It's a compromise.

Millennials are responsible for how their parents raised them.

RE: OT: How Millennials are killing the Big12 Conference
Growing up in the 90's you heard a lot of rebellious idealism all over Nirvana. Rage Against the Machine. Heck, even the wrestling world was cashing in on it. Today is the 20th anniversery of DX in the WWF. Not to mention the "F the police attitude" of the rap community at the time.

These days, kids hearing that stuff since they were little have grown up and gotten jobs (or at least tried to) and they're realizing that the promises of their parents generations were lies. They're going back to that "FU" attitude and the elders are getting peeved about it.

RE: OT: How Millennials are killing the Big12 Conference
Back on topic though:

This article is clearly satire, and is taking all the tired and unfair tropes thrown millenials' way to deflect the Big 12's failures (run by a bunch of baby boomer elites who are beyond criticism because they are older than everyone else around them) on anyone but the people responsible for making those decisions.

It's a very apt metaphor for the Baby Boomer mentality, really.

Big 12: Take everything you can, while you can, and when you cant take anymore make sure no one else can either.

The Big 12 hustled Fox for more money on the threat that they'd invite more members, when in reality they would never stoop so low as to associate with these upstart programs, and in the end they left the younger, less prestigious programs holding the bill feeling dirty and used.

They actually did a shakedown of ESPN for $10 million. Fox was semi-open to expanding (east). You wonder how much of a bridge is burnt with ESPN for the next negotiation.

Ah, I was going to go with ESPN first, but I thought Fox owned their rights? Either way: same tactic, different provider

Ummm... don't go too hard on 'em. They're the last generation to have wholly moved out of their parent's basement.

We would too if we didn't leave college with a house payment, with no house to show for it.

How much debt did you graduate with? My Engineering degree net me $90k.

I left ECU with ~$20K in debt. Worked while I was at ECU. But I went to a community college for a few years and paid for that as I went out of my own pocket. This IS one problem that I have with millenials. A lot of you act like the only way to get an education is to go into massive debt for 4 straight years. There's other ways.

$90K in debt for a public school education is ******* nuts.

When you sign up, they give you amortization tables, interest rate examples by repayment plan, they have entrance and exit counseling...

How the **** did you end up with $90K of debt for UCF? Tuition is about $7K according to this.
