The only passes you will see this year are screens and throws into the 5th row.

I will bet you 10 grand that we see more passes than just those two types

Hearing that NIU is installing wildcats, that is nothing but bad bad bad news

RE: Tribune: Three QBs in the Running for Northern Illinois' Job
Just corresponded with someone who watched today's practice. Said there was a lot of energy by the team. I asked about the QBs to which he said they weren't very sharp today but did believe they would get better. He rated them Graham, Santa and Childers.

I am pretty sure Graham was set up to win this job, it wasn't even going to be a competition. It is what it is. To be honest, I don't think coaching even wants to see these QBs separate so it can provide justification to keep the playcalling as conservative as possible.

The rank order had nothing to do with coaching or a decision by a coach. It was all about a fan watching today's practice and noting each QBs ability to throw or execute.

Not a conspiracy I just see a repeated pattern over the past several years. Dont rock the boat, dont worry about making big plays just dont screw up big time. I am convinced this summer camp did not have the goal of finding a QB because a QB skillset is not something that is going to be valued at all this year.

One big similarity I can see with 2014 also along these same lines. Lynch graduates, coaching staff feels like any type of passing game will be lost cause, so just treat the QB position like a big group clustereff. This season, we lose a similar high impact player from the passing game in Golladay, coaching staff now even more than ever does not have faith in any type of cohesive passing threat, so QB position once again treated as a group clustereff. I feel like we are headed toward just a really really colossal type of bad on offense this year. Trust me it gives me no pleasure to think this, I just really feel this one coming.

MD, I've been on a lot of message boards for various sports and teams and they all have their crazies. I've honestly never seen a more negative, irrational, and ignorant poster.
You realize the team is 9 practices into camp right? Every team in the country has position battles going on thru camp, the Huskies currently have one at QB this year. Stop being such an idiot and keep your mouth shut for a change bc youre seriously making this board painful to read and keeping other posters away. You are unbearable.... or are you just a purposeful troll?

The position battles aren't starting until Boston College though, that is my gripe, that is what summer camp should be for! Why wait until the first 6 weeks of the season to straighten things out. Isnt that why coaches get paid , to evaluate talent? Huskiefb4 I take it you are new to being a Huskie fan and have not seen this same thing play out in the past. In the coaching staff's mind, the passing game is not going to be used and all 3 QBs essentially have no value to the coaching staff. Their only value is in their numbers because they are essentially going to be interchanged and rotated through as running backs. We have taken the route of not developing one QB so we can grind them down as running backs, its just ridiculous and I am completely fed up with this

What are you talking about the battles don't start until BC? The battles are happening right now. You can't evaluate talent until they're allowed to practice which there have been only 9 of so far. They are evaluating the talent, Coach Carey even stated in the article that he wants one of them to take the reigns and pull away but they haven't yet. There are still like 20some practices before BC to figure out the starters.
No, been watching the Huskie for a long time growing up close by and know football very well as I played college ball and was recruited by NIU for a time before injuries in HS.
What in the world would make you think the coaches don't want to throw the ball? They seem to be posting WR vs DB and QB throwing drill videos every day on social media... so they're practicing that just to not use it on game day? You're not even a mediocre armchair QB. The system which has lead them to what... 6 of the last 7 MAC championship games isn't a good enough system to you? You're out of your mind. The QBs aren't allowed to develop by this staff? What are you smoking?
Practices are open to the public almost every day from what I've heard... you clearly don't attend but seem to have a 6th sense to just know what's going on what the coach is thinking. Seriously, you keep claiming your going to stop talking about Carey and whatever else. Well that honestly can't happen soon enough. Please go back to your shanty.
