RE: JMU vs ECU prediction
My hope is that we replicate the Pirate Club in the near future. We should be in the AAC playing teams like ECU every week. We are ready to compete and a solid win on Saturday will again prove what we all know is the new normal.

They are also very upset that we are confident about our chances. How dare we express our fandom on a JMU message board!!!

I have nothing but praise for JMU and its successes and also have no problem with you folks being confident. There really is no reason to follow a team and not be. What I do have a problem with is the EZU crap. If you bring that to Greenville tomorrow? You will obviously not be treated well and If I am Coach Mo? Id post every disrespectful comment on the locker room door. Respect is a two way street.

Here's to a clean and hard fought game. Hope to mix with you folks tomorrow and share an adult beverage or two. Arrraggghh!!

I don't like the seeming cockiness of our fans going into this game, and trust that Coach has our guys humble, serious and hungry. ECU will be ready for us, and though they're no Alabama they're a well-run G5. Am also worried about Kloo being out. We'll see. Hope we win, but frankly will be surprised if it happens.

They are just an ugly stepchild in a P5 world; not born into the royalty like Wake, Indiana, Vandy, Washington State or Kansas. Such is the legacy of a former teachers college (sound familiar?). Really, the only thing I hold against them is that Still Jones'n guy. But even he had some valid points that some on our board refused to acknowledge.

Hoping for a great showcase game for us and a hard fought W.

Please don't judge the ECU fanbase by anything that SJ has to say. He is the lunatic fringe that EVERY fanbase has.07-coffee3

Thanks for your comments. Good luck tomorrow.04-cheers

I like your forecast! Can our youngsters at C, RG,RT and new TE hold up for 60 minutes? I'm confident in our backs, but 4 out of 6 newbies on the line is still scaring me.

As a second generation ECU grad and a fan for over of over 40 years I see this matchup as many we had in the 70s when we won the old Southern Conference several times and yearly matched up with NCSU for their opening game. What we put on the field was equal to them and we always played well for about 1/2 the game. At some point in the 3rd quarter the NCSU team depth always took over and they would end up winning handily in the second half. I dont think that depth difference is a large today due to conditioning techniques that everyone has...but...it still exists. On paper? ECU is bigger and deeper on the bench. JMU has to come out quick, build a lead and put the pressure on ECU. It will be very hard IMO for them to come back late to win if ECU comes out quick and builds a lead especially with the situation you describe above and add in a big and hostile crowd. Good luck tomorrow! 04-cheers

Does SJ still post on any ECU board? When he first appeared on our old board, we were convinced he was a 14 year old, typing from his parents basement. Just certain things he said that had a young teenager ring to them. That was over 10 years ago. He could be a college graduate by now.

The first thing to do is to include the students in your booster club and give them rewards in the future(seating, parking ect) for doing it. It builds loyalty. My daughter was in the student Pirate Club and now is a season ticket holder. You MUST revolve as much of your program around those students as possible. They are the best fans in the stands. ECU has over 12K students in the SPC.

-Want to hear more reports on how summer camp is progressing for both teams

-Third, want to wait for a 1-2 day out weather forecast. Even though its a night game, if its a late Aug heat wave, heat & high humidity I think could benefit ECU more with the 22 extra schollies. Rain on the other hand, I think would benefit JMU more than ECU. ECU was a pass happy offense with a weak run game last season. Don't know if that will change much this year..
Since training camp started:
-Lost 2016 1st team All CAA, pre season All American Sr TE to suspension for the 1st 2 games.
-Lost 2016 3rd team All CAA rSr WR to suspension for the 1st up to 4 games (although we pretty much knew about this one).
-Lost would be starting RT to torn achilles, out for season.
-Lost 2 deep if not starting corner to a torn ACL, out for season.
And we may have rain for the game.
Why its silly to do a opening game prediction before training camp has even started or at the beginning of camp..

If not for the injuries & suspensions I would have JMU 41, ECU 31 or 34.
Reverse psychology pick.

This sounds like what happened to ECU last year. Injuries and suspensions killed us all year. Thus far we have lost only one to season ending injury(freshman) and have returned all of the starters that were injured last year. I never like to predict anything..but..I firmly believe with these experienced players returning healthy and the 5 graduate players we brought in?....We could surprise some teams in our conference this year. One thing is for sure tomorrow. We are going to be at FULL strength. I really believe our depth will pull this one out for us in the second half. There is of course always the intangible. Turnovers. We drop the ball on the ground...We throw INTs? Everything is off the table. JMU is perfectly capable of beating us if we beat ourselves.

Im actually looking for a lower score..but..I picked ECU by a FG also.

Good luck tomorrow. JMU is fine team and if any of their fans think for a second that "real" ECU fans don't know that? You would be dead wrong.04-cheers
