How do you think they are paying for the griz fedex forum?

They killed the park commission too.

But we are big time with a pro team, right?

20 years of Willie Herenton happened to our roads. Wharton and Strickland have been trying to get us out of the hole he dug.

Paving schedule can be found at: http://memegis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/weba...f6f8ccc495

Looks like TDOT is to blame for a good portion of the larger roads like Poplar.

Do you have any idea what the time frame is now for starting work on the Poplar viaduct, and what that will entail?

Everything I've heard is that it's just on the back burner for TDOT...still planned, but other projects are in front of it - I think maybe because they realized it was going to be more of an undertaking than originally thought.

2018-19 was what I had heard back some time ago....I have no clue where that is now, though.

RE: WTH HAPPENED TO MEMPHIS ROADS
The reason I ask is that I have heard that the Loeb tenants were made to vacate that strip mall because of the viaduct plans, so it seemed something was about to start fairly soon. That project has the potential, IMHO, to impact our neighborhood in all kinds of ways.

When are you jerks over there going to quit protesting the Greenline extension westward?

We welcomed it with open arms once they actually decided to make it the Greenline & not a regular through street. 03-wink

From what I understand, the plan was to create a trail bridge to go over the tracks while the TDOT project was going on, but now that it's delayed, so is the greenline portion. It's a done deal from the last I heard, though, they're just discussing design choices, etc.

I was at a City Council meeting in something like 2011 or 2012 where AC was talking about being "shovel ready" to expand West.

"Strip mall" was not a good description, but the handful of store fronts on Humes at Poplar, on the east side of the viaduct, across the street from Lost Pizza and Chickasaw Crossing.

RE: WTH HAPPENED TO MEMPHIS ROADS
The Greenline does extend west from Broad Street, right?

And we only protested the plan that the Fairgrounds developers tried to shove down our throats where the Greenline would be routed down our actual sidewalks down Humes and into Larchmont Cove, and subsequently at a later date, down Buntyn and UNDER the railroad on Central to the Fairgrounds. They wanted the Greenline as an additional "amenity" for the Fairgrounds plans UNTIL all of that was scrapped when the pervert Lipscomb imploded.

The expensive part is getting the Greenline over the railroad, but now they are going to be forced to do it farther to the north of our neighborhood near the viaduct. I attended a public meeting last year where the entire plan was presented to run the Greenline to the west of Humes Heights through the Tobey Park area with rest areas, a viewing tower from the viaduct, and other amenities. So, there is or was a plan on the books last year. Does that explanation satisfy you, Saluki? "Jerks"? Really?

Yea, they are in poor shape. Holmes Rd between the BNSF railroad and Malone Rd is HORRENDOUS. Trucks tear the heck out of this road.

In my mind I noticed big problems with roads under King Willie. They have been playing catch up ever since. Paving roads is crazy expensive and TDOT will not help at all.
