Awesome. This is what we need more of in this league, packed stadiums.

Absolutely. The league needs colorful characters and charisma to survive on the national stage.

Funny, your fans trashed Marshall a few weeks ago for taking these same type kids. Pot meet kettle.

FAU has 105 kids in camp and 5 of them have had legal or grade(only 1 has been arrested) 2 or kicked passed schools and went JUCO and two went to prep school. The 5 star kid from FSU has never been in trouble from what I heard from FSU fans is that he didn't cut it on the field and left.
The only reason any of this conversation is happening is because salty people like you want any excuse to pounce on Lane.

I am not posting because I am a salty fan, however, several things should be mentioned re: Lane. The statement that UT fans were upset solely because of how he left is only part of the story. His one year tenure at UT, that was good on the field, also involved the following:
1. A disproportionately high number of his recruits either quit or were kicked off of the team for various transgressions, ie Nukeese Richardson, Jantzen Jackson, etc.,
2. He and Coach O encouraged early enrollees not to attend class after Lane's resignation, so they could transfer to USC,
3. UT received punishment for the recruiting antics of several of Lane's assistants,
4. During his classless exit, he failed to mention it to one of his assistants who learned of it on the radio. The assistant? His brother-in-law David Reaves,
5. He wrecked a UT provided automobile while bar hopping with coeds, while his wife was at home with the kids.

I think Lane is a very good offensive coach, and if he has matured, could be a good head coach. But glossing over his immature and somewhat dubious past actions as the ramblings of salty or jealous fans of other teams, is naïve at best.

Not everyone who doesn't like Kiffin is a Tennessee fan. To assume so makes you sound like the "salty" one.

Not sure what your questions has to do with my post, but I will play along... zero.
A more pertinent questions is, how many times a day do you sniff Lane's jock?

I have no dog in this fight so am unsure why you are being so salty to me. I just posted several facts that might support why other posters feel the way that they do about your coach.

WKU has seen much worse re: Stansbury with much less evidence.

You are happy with your new coach, so I am happy for you. But, that is no reason to be hateful to posters who might have a different opinion (especially when those opinions have some actual factual basis).

Good luck this season. I formerly lived in So. Florida and FAU has several players on its rosters from my area. In addition, I went to school with the aunt of your TE from Chipley so I want to see FAU do well. Just not too well.04-cheers

RE: Look Out for FAU
Many criticized teams like FAU for its non-competitive teams. Now, FAU is aggressively taking football serious and making notable investment in its product and many of the same do not like how they're doing it. High brand coach, yes he has baggage. Highly recruited player transfers, yes some have baggage. If baggage didn't exist most likely all would be at a high level P5 school. Many teams have taken similar risk, sometimes it works out sometimes it does not. Bottom line, at least my opinion, FAU is ready to win and making the necessary investment to do so. It's all in approach is refreshing and I hope it's works out for them

An excellent post. I have been with FAU through thick and thin and, finally, over the last several years, we have been making a real investment in the football program. Sure as heck, some of the gambles will not work out. The previous coach was, certainly, a gamble that did not pan out. The talent has been there, let's see what happens when Lane leads them onto the field.

I think it's great. You can't buy this kind of press. I thought the same when Petrino was our coach. I think he is a slime all but it gave us more press than we coulda asked for. And helped springboard brohm. I think Kifin is a slime ball but a good coach (if he can control off the field) I don't think he is a top coach like petrino but a good one. I think he will help Fau in long run.

RE: Look Out for FAU
Teams always tend to hire the opposite of the coach they just fire. Charlie was the nicest lovable local guy that recruited good players who has no issues. We went 9-27 with that approach because Charlie was over his head on game days an didn't have the staff to support him. Charlie while here built great relationships with local mayors, business leaders, high school coaches etc. How many of those people were with Charlie to support him at the end when we played ODU at home which ended up being our last home game? None, we played in front of our smallest crowd in the on campus stadium. That what made FAU wake up and realize that coaches don't need to be politicians, but they need to win to fill seat and gain fans.

FAU is going to sell out the Navy game on a Friday night that type of excitement is worth it. Every week on this fourm there seems to be a 5 page discussion on FAU and Lane.

Lane's career and reputation is on the line here he has to win and win without trouble or he will never be the head coach at any level ever again.
If he wins for a couple years and bails FAU will get maybe two of the most exciting year in program history and a big buyout.
Hard to beat that.

Yea, because it's true. We have a bunch C-USA "fans" on this forum who still have Peyton Poster hanging in their room.

100% I wish Joey Freshwater was in Hattiesburg running the Lane Train on some Slidell Skanks on campus. You can't beat that publicity and honestly, we ALL need something like that to spark a fire in our fanbase. Anybody at USM that says otherwise either has land next to our coach in Lorman, MS or they are "too close" to the program see the forest for the trees. Or, maybe they go to church with Hugh Freeze & are just plain retarded.

Why exactly are you complaining? It's a good thing whether it's positive or negative. Hell, there might be 3 FAU fnas that actively discuss the school in this forum.
