Southern Miss + Russell
It was recently announced that Georgia Tech will be going to Adidas starting with the 2018-19 season. With that it makes USM the last FBS team outfitted by Russell. Are there any plans to switch brands in the near future?

Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Yes. Russell has said they are not going to be providing gear for any D-1 schools. USM is going to look at new options come next year. I believe a USM designer helped Russell with putting together our current uniform design. But I could be wrong.

So will you be entertaining Nike, Adidas, or UA?

Yes to all of the above. That's the hope/assumption currently. I know we currently have agreements with different brands for other sports. Baseball is UA I believe and Women's Basketball is Nike.

Hmm.

Nike will probably stiff you.

I could see UA making a play but they don't cover all sports teams with gear.

Adidas is a FULL LINE company. Part of the reason ECU went with Adidas is that they could cover every sport with gear instead of having some teams having to find gear from someone else.

I'm pretty sure our AD stated he wanted same company covering all sports.

I didn't realize this. What sports does UA not cover?

I'd have to go back to some of our pressers but I believe volleyball and a few other sports at that time they didn't have gear in those categories yet. Supposedly they were on the way but weren't out yet.

RE: Southern Miss + Russell
Our Russell contract is in it's final year and I could see us not going Nike from the aspect we left them for Russell ($$$) as well as they will probably low ball us as our on-field results haven't been the best lately sans baseball. My money is on UA or Adidas with the slight edge going to Adidas. Regardless, either baseball (UA) or women's basketball (Nike) or both are probably gonna be ticked as both have pretty sweet deals with their respective brand right now. Football, men's basketball and most of the other sports are Russell.

Adidas is getting really aggressive with plans to dive off in to nutrition supplements as well.

I know it is a matter of preference but me personally I hope we go with UA. Time will tell.

They've covered 18 of UAB sports since last year (including football though it was just practice/coach's/casual apparel up to this season) with the exception of 3 shoes but they did have the unis:

Quote:In some sports, like tennis, track and volleyball, Under Armour shoes are still in development and players can wear another brand. Volleyball players sport Mizuno shoes.

Sep, 2016 - UAB Sports Signs Multi-Year Agreement w/ Under Armour

Average product allowance thru 2022 of $1.026 million (was something like $500k w/ Nike) w/ exclusive rights to match any offer past that thru 2026
Rights fees to UAB = $50k/yr

Basketball players preferred the Currys

From this article, looks like they (UA) were willing to pay more due to the publicity from the resurgence of football. Suits me as I vastly prefer UA gear:

I was hoping for UA for Tech during our recent change, but Adidas offered us more money. Not many UA teams in the NCAA right now, but their uniforms look sharp.
