Agreed; was a great crowd. This year, fan base a little apathetic and the first time around was the first bowl game. Montgomery wants Troy no question, second probably A-State this year and third South.
Any apathy in the fan base was greatly alleviated when USA beat Troy. The first bowl game factor definitely entered into the first appearance there. Your preference rating is probably correct at the moment. How the rest of the season plays out will affect things, of course.
16K for Homecoming the week immediately after might say differently
That's 4,000 more than the previous home game against Idaho and it was up against Alabama/Tennessee.
And its real attendance too. Look, we all know that the number of different individuals that will go to a non-SEC game to support USA at Ladd Stadium is currently around 35,000. However, the good news is that about half of them pretty much go to all the games. So while we're going to average somewhere around 15-20k, but there will be people that will travel to a regional bowl. We sent thousands to Montgomery. We sold every ticket they would let us sell. So Camellia can count on 7.5-10k incremental fans from having USA. The New Orleans Bowl probably can count on 7.5k or so. The Dollar General, around 20k. After that it gets harder. I say we bring 3k to Orlando and maybe 500 at most to Arizona.
BTW, attendance at bowl games doesn't matter in most conferences because those conferences rightfully tell the bowls that they will take the best team for the conference.

That being said, I'd argue that USA fans need to worry about beating Ga State and ULL before we start wondering where we will be bowling. Lost to those guys, and a bowl will be hard to reach.

This is the truest thing ever posted.
However, attendance at a bowl game is something in the fan's power to affect. The results on the field...not so much.

RE: Bowl Projections after week 8
The advantage for South is that we have to rise to make a bowl, which could result in higher attention. It's better then limping into a bowl losing 3 out of 4 and losing interest.
With that, I hope we are playing for bowl eligibility and a possible conference lead against stAte.
But first we gotta beat GaSt tomorrow night.
